Yes, they do practice taking "speckies" but they don't wear pads when doing it. They jump onto a trainer wearing a big pad on his back. They learn how to fall to the ground properly, so they don't hurt themselves.

There's some really top tier marks from this year missing from this video (as in significantly better than the majority shown in this video).

the goal refs used to be subjected to the chant of when a 6 point goal was scored of "How bigs ya …… " and then they would make the sign for a 6 point goal…. I need not continue but I think you get the idea.. That's Aussies for you.

No one specifically trains to take these marks but during training one of the coaches will have these massive paddings on his back and allow players to go all in to take the marks

Re training: Whilst ruckmen (the jump ball in basketball) use jumping pads, and sometimes they use them in marks too, basically Aussie kids play kick-to-kick and try to take Mark of the Year over their mates in the same way Americans play quarterback throws in the yard. It's just what we do from a young age.

There's a funny video of Conan O'Brien spending a day at training with the Swans. They actually run him through a few drills including taking marks. Worth a watch for both the giggle and a bit of a look at the training.

Hey Guys love your channel, you both give informed comments, even though you are new to AFL, you wouldn't know it, your insight into each play is really good. Unlike a lot of reaction videos it appears that you have a good understanding of the game. Footies had some great players over the years, you've covered one Gary Ablett Snr. but his son Gary Ablett jnr. was as good, I think maybe better, so how bout a highlights package from him. Another player that was incredible to watch was Eddie Betts, a genius at scoring goals from impossible angles, his highlight package is second to none. I really like your cricket videos, cricket is a complex game but your understanding of it shows you are both RealSportFans, sorry about the pun. Stick with the cricket, it's the second most watched game after soccer in the world 2.5 billion fans, it's bound to get your subscription numbers up, especially the way you guys analyse the plays. As an Australian my only regret is that the U.S.A. doesn't play cricket on the international stage, if you did it would be one more side that we could beat. Actually the only time I like to see Australia win is when we play the brits, we just love to see England lose at cricket. Yes I know the U.S was in the World Cup, that's great.
