The sleep cycle makes sense! I go to sleep peace fully, and around midnight I just randomly wake with no cause. Fall back to sleep and wake up 10 years later.

The closest to a medieval English language heard today is quite possibly the north east / geordie/ northumbria dialect which has remained unchanged in some of these areas for hundreds of years.

You mentioned that there weren't many torture devices during the Middle Ages. What about the implements on display at the various Museos della Tortura in Italy? Do the majority of them date to 19th century?
@bonniepatterson9485 October 1, 2024 - 12:55 pm
So the Sainted Greyhound is basically Gelert?
@bonniepatterson9485 October 1, 2024 - 12:55 pm
I love that she says that pictures of animals in illuminated manuscripts were not meant to be realistic, yet in the background there's a picture of a leopard practically stuffing its whole head up its bumhole in order to wash it. That seems a very realistic depiction of a cat to me.
@nukenugget October 1, 2024 - 12:55 pm
this all is a bit Anglocentric. it might be right but in the holy roman empire f.e. the tournament is a scheduled battle. where you try to take other nobles prisoner for ransom. jousting is not the main event initially for the nobles. however later patricians made it the main event and kind of a sport. thats where you get the fogmouth helmet for example. its completely unfit for combat but great as a safety gear.

@alexandraayeone1470 October 1, 2024 - 12:55 pm
10:27 - don't forget everything is relative- as they had no clue what it was like to be glued to an iPad, going to the gym, cinemas etc etc... they didn't have those high expectations to be entertained like today's spoiled lil bastardos do (myself included at times lol)
A whole afternoon of supposedly "nothing to do" for us would be filled with normal life stuff- being outside, reading, views, fighting/ playing with siblings etc.
Their 'boring' to them would be parallel to our 'boring' to us now I reckon? 😊
In short - they never knew what they were missing- as we don't know what entertainment our future as humans holds for us all 😊
