Magic and the occult is harnessing the energies of nature and the universe. Magic itself is neither bad, nor good. Its the INTENTION of the user that defines morality. Magic is like a gun or a sword, you can use it to harm and kill, or use it to defend and save lives.
The reason why the Christian church demonize the use of magic and the occult is because in the first centuries of Christianity the emperor of Rome wanted Christianity as its official religion. Pagan and nature religions are widespread in the Roman empire that time, so in order to prevail Christianity to the masses the church leaders say the practitioners of magic and the occult is evil and satanic. This peaked out during the Witch Trials where anyone guilty or thought to practice the occult are accused as witches and are killed.
Magic can come not only from demons, but also from gods and angels as well. The demons are not the only ones capable of performing magical feats.
