00:20 You didnt find that out in NYC. That design has been used in The Netherlands for decades.

If rent control was mandatory nationwide, then developers could not pick and choose simply the most profitable venture. Take the incentive away to be greedy and we will have affordable housing nationwide.

I would love to have him review Mumbai and just break down into tears... because that's what happens to a person who reviews the city infrastructure and planning

On the topic of LA. I agree wholeheartedly. Ever since connecting the blue line to the gold, ive been able to visit little tokyo ao much easier. And if i want i can hit up grand central market. I need the metro to go down the coast. So we could have more access to the beaches.

Comverting office buildings to residential is dangerous.... Here in the uk people have done it and they made "special rules" for them and it caused more problems then anything. And also residential buildings have different fire strategies and office buildings don't come close to the residential standards.... Beware id never live in converted building. A lot of times this is never considered and its putting peoples lives at risk. (building services designer)

I like the idea of a physical barrier between car and bike traffic, however it becomes difficult to see bikes through the Land Titanic Texas Editions parked near uncontrolled lateral access points, especially when bikes are moving in the same direction.

I cannot for the life of me understand why NYC doesn’t turn at least two of their avenues into walking-only streets, so it’s actually enjoyable to walk 45 streets without 45 stop lights

Sorry but it's not just regulations that make converting an office building into housing challenging, it's incredibly expensive. Think about the logistics of putting in the plumbing needed for all the bathrooms and kitchens you'll need to add. Even "opening the windows" means an expensive retrofit.

@8:16 yes that is called “a 3rd place” they are needed badly in America, but like alot of other issues shown in this video .. we cant have nice things cause folks are greedy.

@ActiveAquaSPORTSOlympicS-ul1sw September 30, 2024 - 9:34 am
Rent contol , is simply a great way too make it fair for all types of people to live . Not just for money.
Houseing in offices is the best reason to make citys better uses .
@denize7139 September 30, 2024 - 9:34 am
Honolulu is the leader in turning offices into housing. I live in downtown Honolulu and just love it. We take our car out only once a week and are considering letting it go because we don’t need it. Another development is opening in November. We really need affordable housing here!

GM and Ford are the worse. They came to my country, Venezuela, in the 1950's (if I recall correctly) and made a deal with the corrupt politicians of the era to dismantle out railroad system, so Venezuela would become a truck and bus only country. Do you have an idea of how is like when 100% of all cargo in a country can only be moved through trucks? It ain't pretty.

The U.S. is "so car dependent" because of: robert moses.

[🖕🖕🖕 and F his short-sightedness and indignation. 😡🤬]
@lenex88 September 30, 2024 - 9:34 am
Wild idea.. stop paying billions for these endless wars that we shouldn’t be involved in and rebuild nyc’s transit system instead 💡
