Well, with Freddy, if you went by the remake, yeah post-traumatic-burn-alive-syndrome as you called it made sense as he was just a child molester in the remake before being burned alive, but in the original Freddy was killing before he was burned alive and even after he got all the kids of the parents that burned him he kept on killing as the killer he was.

Jigsaw is right to be number one... but "Cancer" isn't his motivation, considering u guys use footage from the second film he fucking states "The cancer isn't what started me at my work, it was the moment I decided to end my life that started me on my work, and brought meaning to it..." so... an attempted suicide epiphany is probably the most appropriate answer, he had cancer, but it wasn't motivation enough, and if he was successful in his suicide attempt he wouldn't have been able to do it, clear answer... my theory is, you knew that, and just didn't or weren't allowed say that... Mojo has previously used the quote above in a different video but motivations weren't apart of the theme, or they somewhat were and you showed it but didn't talk about it, same reason perhaps...

The cabin in the wood really feels like mending every thread of horror genre, by establishing dynamic plot that can be used as a basic and ground level plot for every horror killer or monsters. And each movie a particular segments to a great plot.
