Gary Neville reacts to England’s draw against Slovenia

Gary Neville says England have not reached the levels expected of them so far in the tournament and that has fuelled the widespread criticism of the team. He believes the introduction of Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon had a positive impact on the England team in the draw with Slovenia.

The said reality is now is the worse time to start the right team. Ie Gordon and mainoo. Because ur putting all the pressure on them to make things right. He should have done it in the group stages. Now teams will be geared up and ready for whatever England do because they are soo polarizing in the media. And southgate is soo bad at making the changes. It’s too the detriment of the team at the point whatever he does. England won’t go far regardless at this point because of how southgate has handled the team and the media has talked about it.

I’ve been a great fan of Southgate as manager but I think it’s time to get a foreigner in. There’s no doubting the players’ credentials but it’s the tense and underachieving English psyche that needs to be cracked.

Based on Gary Neville’s comments regarding players being targeted by the media for their performance, that’s where the team psychologist comes in to try and help the players turn that negative energy into a positive outcome.

From someone who’s not English, honestly y’all should leave the coach and the players alone. It’s almost like they could win the euros and you’ll be slating the performance or “why Foden isn’t playing central”, etc. They’re winning games and hardly look like conceding. They’ll grow into the tournament and my guess is they’ll win it. Relax and enjoy the tournament:)
