You don't actually have to go vertical on the situps portion. Your elbows just have to touch your thighs. So a little cheat we always do is to scoot your butt as close to your heels as you can and come up just enough so that your elbows touch your thighs down close to your pelvis You'll get way more doing that...😉

I know this is an old video but can't help but comment. These requirements are a little misleading as it's the minimum to attend/pass boot camp. Once in the Air Force operationally, a new test must be performed that is much stricter. Min. 33 push-ups in 1 min, 42 sit-ups in 1 min, then a 1.5 mile run in under 13:36 followed by pull-ups until failure. This is in addition to a body composition eval and certain height/weight requirements. This may still seem easy but you pass by obtaining a cumulative score based on your performance in each aspect of the test. Meeting the minimum of each test will not meet that threshold, meaning you must do above minimum in each or at least excel in one aspect or another.

A helpful hint, in the sit up portion you just need to touch your elbows to anywhere on your thighs.

You did well, however, for the sit ups you were overexerting yourself. Your elbows just have to touch your thighs to count. You don’t have to go over the thighs lol but job well done mate.
