These games didn’t quite nail it, but their sequels certainly did!

Does "Terminator: Resistance" count? Arguably the best of the Terminator video game series, after all…
For the sequel video, I have a few suggestions:
1. The Elder Scrolls: Arena. The first game in the series is mediocre at best, but it spawned a franchise that dominates western RPGs to this day.
2. Double Dragon on the NES. I know the series is more or less dead now, but the second and third entries are legendary and spawned the entire beat 'em up genre.
3. Grand Theft Auto. The first game is a trivia question. The rest of the series is a must have.
4. Metal Gear. The first two games are trivia questions. The Metal Gear Solid spin-off series is huge to this day, though.
5. Arguably Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. I know the first two games were actually well-loved, but the series really took off with Link to The Past and that's the one that redefined everything that is now a series staple, like the Master Sword, the Triforce granting wishes, Ganon being a Gerudo wizard/thief who was turned into a boar creature by the evil within him, the two worlds concept, all that stuff.
6. Final Fantasy was a D&D rip-off. The sequels introduced a job system and multiple innovative concepts that made it into one of the most important game series there is. Yes, it was popular but nothing compared to the sequels from 3 onwards.
It's not exactly a bad game, but the first Streets of Rage fits the category.
I completely forgot about RD Revolver! You totally got me with that thumbnail 😂🤘
You think Saints Row 1 was a bad game? Rare miss by Outside X.
Those kinda channels suck like IGN , WatchMojo , they think they are f smartasses , but they are so bad at this
I feel like killzone should have been on this list killzone 1 was really hyped up and then left people disappointed while killzone 2 really was exceptional it's still one of the best FPS ever made
Funny how the Xtra crew mocks the censorship of Mortal Kombat back in the day for violence, but if a game was released today with an "offensive" joke or an "offensive" word, they'd screech like stuck pigs and cheer on anyone who would censor or ban the game.
RE6 was actually a pretty good game once you learn some of the more advanced close combat
Um… excuse me
What if I like to be blinded by the white hot supernova that was your original background?
…..I used to use you guys as my night light 😨
Resident Evil 6 taught me that Leon Kennedy is a terrible driver, no matter the vehicle.
Mass Effect 2 was such an upgrade over ME1.
Thank you for giving saints row the respect it deserves 👏🏼 2 is iconic…
The jab at the old couch and the blinding white had me rolling
I was about to be furious with that thumbnail. That's some top tier clickbait lol
Watch dogs needs to be here. WD1 was a massive dissapointment, but WD2 addressed nearly every issue it had
So, MK (or at least, its sequel) was NOT censored on SNES! I keep seeing game lists that said it was but could've sworn seeing blood in the game. So, yhe franchise had been censored but then Nintendo walked it back. Good to know I'm not going crazy, lol.
Also, the rating system clearly was ignored by my mom as we were playing it at the ages of between four and seven. My older brother and younger brother played it the most, with the worst squabble being my younger brother trying to destroy the console when my older brother repeatedly ripped his arms off (was that Jax's fatality? I think so). After a…physical altercation with our older brother, my younger brother learned to leave the console and controllers out of his rage-quitting 😅
He fared better as he got older, though, and we got Killer Instinct and even I preferred that game more. Jago's plethora of half-circle combos (that made me absolutely terrible with him on the right-hand side of the screen) and the resulting "Nintendo Thumb") are fond memories.
AC1 has slightly better parkour and way better combat than AC2 and a story that didn't meander until we want to give up 3/4 in. Not to mention the fact that AC2s connection to the Assassins is pretty much an afterthought.
I love AC2 but AC1 is head and shoulders above it from my perspective.
Legacy of Goku on the gba was bloody awfully balanced and limited in scope. Meanwhile LoGII was way better, more bapanxee, more characters and better combat and one of the best action rpgs on the system.
Witcher 2 is clunky and tedious.Witcher 3 is a masterpiece.
SNES MK was better to play than MD MK though. MD version ran at about 3 frames a second.
I see Ellen is growing out her purple. Here's to hoping she'll switch to bright red!
Resident Evil 6 is the best game in the series. I will not apologize.
Saints Row joins the list of games "Killed by fans because of being epic exclusives". Lots of games are on that list, and generally speaking, they don't deserve it, unless you are religious. Saints Row reboot was great fun. Volition was killed by Embracer money trouble; they massacred their developers, shutting down a total of 44 studios (Volition were just the biggest name.).
Am I the only one who liked the white background? Really? Okay, never mind 🙂
Other titles that come to mind:
Might and Magic led to the much more popular Heroes of Might and Magic series, with HOMM1 being ok, HOMM2 being great, and HOMM3 being all time classic.
Witcher 1 felt dated, with janky combat and some really questionable design choices (collectable cards from sexual encounters, really?). Witcher 2 improved the combat and story. Witcher 3 made it open world and improved almost everything.
