All movie examples: anglo-saxon. Bad start for an etiquette lesson.
At 4:15, she adds the cream and jam to the whole slice — wrong. One bite at a time should be torn and spreads added then. yes? Also the queen makes noise with her cutlery and plate. European manners dictate that they should make no noise — true even today, so I'm told.
At 9:00, kissing in public was tabu even between married couples. Even up to the 1960s it was unusual.
Everything about bridgeton is wrong.
UK – Although not technically a rule, it's generally frowned upon for female royals to sit with their legs crossed at the knee. Legs and knees must be kept together, which means crossing at the ankle is fine.
I love this! I feel like I’m ready for high tea. Pinkies down!
I dunno, I think being especially graceful in movements is incredible to watch no matter what era. I think that's why people still enjoy the ballet.
Actually a few no no's by this manners expert. Could be a USA vs. Britain difference. Royals do not cross legs, so Diana really raised some eyebrows when she did so. Also, in England, cups and saucers would be raised together in fine company, just as the crown displayed. VERY bad form to raise a cup without a saucer. ☕
American woman judging etiquette? I don't think that's appropriate at all😅😅😅😅😅
I think if the queen her self did something it never was bad etiquette. Correct Etiquette was what the queen did.
This was so fun to watch.
This is all interesting and stuff, but we should remember that it is also really stupid, unnecessary and used to reinforce power structures and keep people locked out. The fact that she is so enthousiastic about it genuinely puts me off big time
I would love for her to react to the etiquette classes in Enola Holmes
Liberals have ruined the world. Life used to be magnificent
Not me learning to put my pinky out when drinking tea at a young age and internalizing it and doing it as an adult 😂🤦♀️
thats what i like about the dowager countess, shes lived a long enough life that she no longer cares about being prim and proper, she just says what she thinks and doesnt care
its amazing how much time and effort people put into things that dont really matter, isnt it? its interesting to know these things but im absolutely never going to put effort into figuring out what side my forks are supposed to go on when eating. even the basic things seem like far too much effort to put into eating and talking. takes the fun out of life, doesnt it? when youre watching everything you do to make sure its proper?
I never thought a video explaining manners would be so interesting.
The Downton Abbey curtsey is a joke. An obvious one at that. But ok.
Way too pretentious for me. She takes this way too seriously for my tastes.
Rich people back then: Don’t shame anyone, that makes the situation uncomfortable and is very unpleasant.
Rich people now: PATRICIA!!
Will there be Closed Captions soon?
No pinkie up?!!!! Are you telling me my whole life has been a lie??!!
I clicked on this video as I was confused why Anne Hathways knee was looking like a belly button, and I watched the entire video somehow …
I couldn't imagine existing this way constantly
I was a little girl who followed rules, and was very interested in etiquette. There was one big faux pas I would fall into, which was to alert someone when they were performing poor etiquette. Ironic, I know. It was an attempt an empathy, knowing that I would’ve liked to be told, but not realizing not everyone has that desire. I still have the desire to “fix” etiquette mistakes; but I have to remind myself that it isn’t my job to fix anyone, and that bad manners are not fixed with more bad manners. The response to a faux pas is just as telling as the faux pas itself.
I love etiquettes. I wish we still had some stuff like this. its very disciplined
I like listening to this lady.
Imagine introducing yourself as an etiquette expert

I loved this. I'm all about proper etiquette. I wish people were still like this. I'm often called "stuck-up" because I choose to be proper.
It's really hard to take an etiquette expert who sounds like a valley girl seriously.
theres a second downtown abbey movie??
I wish people would learn etiquette today as well. Especially in schools. Maybe not as restrictive as in the past, but some of them would probably apply now as well. People lost the sense of respect, shame and courtesy, I just feel like we're regressing instead of evolving. I would love to learn etiquette and actually use it in society.
Uh.. I’m sorry, I think you mean your name is Mykkal Meiers.
Her eyebrows are bad etiquette
11:37 I suppose that I am extremely quite elegant ✨
An American expert on etiquette, OMG
I want to take an etiquette class 😩

Some etiquette "rules" are for hygiene purposes, avoiding cross contamination.
When eating a scone, the same knife should not be used to scoop and spread the cream and the jam!
There should be a separate spoon for the cream and jam.
A small blob of each should be placed on the side of the plate and then a knife should be used for spreading.
In this scene even the amount of cream and jam put on the scone is wrong.
The cream is supposed to be a substitute for butter and thinly spread, followed by a similar layer of jam.
Big faux Pas to have slatherings of jam and cream that could end up all over your chops when biting into the scone.
But, in private that's half the fun eating a well smothered scone!😉
Dazzling❤️
LOL…politeness and courtesy are dead in our society, let alone proper etiquette. It's unfortunate but we have descended into madness.
wish we had some etiquette. society has really degraded.
6:07 Sorry, but I'm gonna go off topic for a mo.
I want that blue dress. It's so lovely. Regency gowns are truly fantastic, and I love them. Too bad they're not casual enough for day-to-day wear…
