With the Valve Steam deck on the way so I wanted to see how well we could run Steam games from a Micro Sd card on a handheld gaming PC.
In this video, we test this out on the OneXPlayer handheld gaming PC I wanted to use the AYA Neo but the founder’s edition doesn’t have a micro-sd card slot. We test CS GO, The Witcher 3, and GTA5 on a micro SD card VS an NVMe drive and I even test out an external SSD.

i love buying physical games but disks is not my thing. i hope to see soon games on sd
ETA could you please do this same test with an A1 rated micro SD card (that you have in this video) vs an A2 rated card which has faster read and write speeds? There are basically only these two types of cards
Link to buy for external SSD ?
Your templete shows your sd card has AI on it. I heard that the series with A2 is what is actually designed spicfically for gaming
Does the Steam deck 256/512 version have the same internal SSD speed as OneXPlayer? That speed looks insane for over 2000mb/s
Hi, may i know why my oxp 1195G7 only got micro sd card speed of 30mbps? Yours quite a gap compared to mine, i am using the same sd card and confirmed its an original one
Is there differences between SD cards when it comes to actually downloading games though?
I only use my SD Card to store all my Roms for my emulators.
Any other game, I install it right to the internal drive.
What ive seen from people now. Sd card can be pretty damn fast. Ssd speeds. The only faster is the most expensive model with m2. I will use the mid range with a few 256gb evo cards. Prepped one with 2 big games. The rest are indie games
ETA, what SD cards would you recommend? Sandisk ultra / extreme or Samsung Evo?
I’m confused, every game I’ve tried to play from my micro sd or USB (both top of the line storage devices) has been less than 1fps and the games take about 10x-20x as long to install. Do I have a setting I need to change? Faulty device? Seems unlikely that both ports are bad.
since we now have an idea how fast they are now we need to know how LONG they last
compared to hdd its not too bad.
Has anyone tried a small USB Jumpdrive through the USB C port? Those little guys can get up to 500MB/s transfer speed so it would in essence be the same speed as the external SSD but just be a little dongle at the top of the unit
Verbatim Pro II Plus 1900x is faster than an internal HHD so its perfect for gaming, The PNY X Pro is also good
Nice but I use sd card for new steam deck make easy save anyone file
who cares about loading speeds id be happy to play even i. it took 3 minutes
Can't wait to see one paired with a usb c hub that has a m.2 SSD in the hub
What about running a game from an SD card in a computer(hp victus 3050)? I want to do this as a permanent fix. I bought two external hard drives and have had problems with both! I'm done with that. The first stopped working after I sat it on its side (too hard evidently… Not at all) and the second one works but only if you keep the cord still. Both were WD Elements Drives so no they were not no named garbage but I'm done.
You do you get the Onexplayer be controller to work on CSGO? I cant move at all. I would like to play this game on my handheld.
Would be interesting to find the times when you load the games from a nas drive.
Some games frames will drop by the way
what Sd card drivers are you using? No one can seem to get the sd card to read/write more than 30 mbps (on reddit). My 1S even stutters regularly while emulating if the game is on an sd card. I'm using a 1tb sandisk….
if the system was installed on the sd card as well it would be even slower. this set up is w system on ssd and games on sd.
I just played wolfenstein 2 off an SD card and loading was instant I couldn't believe it.
just want to say: thanks
XD that 4k W/R speed on the SD BRUH! LITERALY 100x slower than the NVMe.
