I remember taking a neighbors kid to Blade. He was a huge fan of blade and his mom asked me to take him as a guardian accompaniment. The R rating was for language and graphic violence. The language Darren heard everyday at school. 8 year old at a parochial school. The violence at the beginning scared him and told me he wanted to leave. I picked him up and ran out of the theater. I never heard a child say he was scared and wanted to go home. It upset me. So I was writing for MovieLine back in those days so 2 weeks later ol Darrren got a phone call at school and a delivery of a signed Blade poster of the movie by Wes, Stephen and Kris. He also got a t shirt. The phone call was from Wes. He told him it takes a brave boy to know when to get away. He told Darren "you rum now when some (whispers) creepy m*** f*** come your way. Ok?"
Darren told me later. He said "Blade is cool" it seems strange to have joy now. DP3 brought it back. ❤
I consider myself a MCU fan, not a Marvel fan; i actually find everything that was done pre-2008 pretty lame, with few exceptions: Ang Lee's Hulk, the first Spider-Man and Wolverine… as a character, which i always found out of place in all the boring, shallow X-Men serie. I liked his few moments in this movie, i liked the very beginning of it – wondering where it was heading to – but that's it; in the end, even with all the twists, I found it lazy, a wasted chance…
To put it in terms Deadpool could understand: if Spider-Man – No Way Home was a ha🙊j🙊 to the fans, this one was a lengthy, sloppy bl🙊j🙊 that went on for 2 hours even though you c🙊 in the first 5 minutes – and not memorably – leaving you sore, wrinkly and sticky.
I'd give it a 5/10, but I'll hold that judgement until i watch it again in a less overwhelming place.

The chris evans cameo was the best out of all of them because when you see it you expect it to be Captain America and it turns out to be Johnny Storm, which I thought was fucking hilarious and a great twist imo.
