Defunct Games reviews Late Shift by Wales Interactive, available April 18 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam.
While nowhere near as good as The Bunker, I like that Wales Interactive is keeping the full-motion video genre alive with games like Late Shift. This crime thriller isn’t especially original and you probably won’t want to play it more than a few times, but it has an attractive price and good production values. I hope they keep making games like this, but maybe next time make the interactive movie a little more, well, interactive.

I like most of it. But a lot of the choices don't matter, if you don't take part in the job everyone still acts like Matt did.
Good review. Hit most of the pros and cons. A huge con is the lack of a skip button. You have to sit though every scene and wait. And there is no decision tree you can look at to figure out what to try next. I know the game is 5 years old but these issues prevent a player from being engaged in trying to "play" the game and find all the scenes.
I didnt ask for an explanation of the fucking story, just tell me if the game/story is good or not
This was a bad game
honestly this game had very poor student acting and was actually just the same movie no matter what choice you made.
how to build games like this. I want to make my own?
Just subbed, thanks for the awesome review, considering getting this game soon, so hyped now. 😊
I wanted a review, not a spoiler filled walkthrough. Good job though for people who are looking for some advice on the game.
Bandersnatch!
I got the best ending on my first try lol. At least my best ending. Matt and may got out alive and the Chinese gang got par and the bowl. And may and Matt got the 5 mil big cut.
Edit: thank you for the heart!
I haven't even played this but I think it's pretty cool.
Thanks played through it twice I’ll check out the bunker
what genre does this game fall into? or is it really a game?
this is like Collateral (2004)

Well, as long as the game surpasses the efforts of the "glorious" FMV era in the 90's, I'm in.
I quite enjoyed The Bunker, and this seems to have a far more complex story than a lonely
man-child in his mother's basement (that's essentially what it was at its core), which could
mean that there's a stronger reason and incentive to play through it multiple times.
Telltale: The Crime Edition, here we go!
Oh, and good review. It persuaded me to buy the game despite your clear reservations, so job done.
I`ve been hoping that FMV would make a comeback but not sure about this it seems that gameplay is prob more to do with guessing than real skill
It's a good movie!
BUT bad as a game!
No Fast forward or skips on something you already watched.
NO Chapter select.
Hm, even less interactive than "The Bunker"? Awww! Still gonna get it I guess, just to keep the genre alive (hopefully!). Too bad "Missing" was cancelled after the first episode 🙁 While short and really cheesy at times I loved the puzzles and the fact that it was pretty interactive. A mix of The Bunker, Contradiction & Missing would be lovely!
Thanks for the review! We need more FMV games! 🙂
Hey thanks for the review! I work a lot of 10-11 hour shifts and this seems like it's be a perfect "game" to come home and relax to without having to dedicate a lot of practice and time to be good at. I really enjoy your content your putting out, can't wait to see what's next! : -)
I didn't know these were still a thing :D. Might try it, thanks for exposing it to me 😀
After watching this, I noticed The Bunker was on sale on PS4. Maybe I'll check it out.
I wouldn't normally play something like this. But the production value seems really good, and the acting looks decent too.
