I’m your host, Darren Van Dam!

Tired of looking for good movies to watch on Netflix, Amazon Prime or other streaming services? Every week I recommend a handful of the best movies on Netflix, Amazon, HBO etc. so my subscribers never run out of good movies to watch on streaming. Spending 10 minutes watching one of my videos could save you hours of searching, hours that you could otherwise spend watching good movies on streaming that you otherwise might not have ever watched or even known about.

I LOVE Starred Up!!!

@AlexiLaihoFan July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Timecrimes…Please, everyone. Watch that movie.

@KayButtonJay July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Starred Up is incredible. I’d pair it with A Prophet. Two of the best prison films ever made

@Scarter63 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

I enjoyed Chopper, years ago.
No Way Out is one of my favorite spy movies. What a great plot twist!
Mud was fun too.

@brianbasham3517 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

I remember renting Timecrimes and another of my favorite time travel movies (Triangle 2009) from Blockbuster way back when. Those 2 movies solidified my love for time travel movies.

@ladystoneheart8155 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

I’ve been subbed for a few years and I honestly thought this was a genre that wouldn’t last. But you’re doing great, my guy.

Movies jumping from platform to platform needed someone like you.

@jamesbrinner3678 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

great list of films. everyone a banger

..and yes, Chopper does deserve more love

@kenm1474 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Why are you using critics reviews??? They are suspect. Some get flown out to HW, get perks, (free room and board), so they can see an advanced screening. If they give a poor review, do you think they'll be invited back for any more advanced screenings? With RT, why not use, or at least mention the user reviews, with at least 5,000+ reviews, (you should mention these numbers as well). Your Chopper movie you recommend so highly, has an 89% user approval rating, with 25,000+ reviews. After you mentioned the second movie, I checked to see which reviews you were using. When I saw it was the critics, (again, why???), I stopped watching the video, and left this comment. I will not be watching the rest. Granted bots exist, but if bots are being heavily used, why don't they all have 5,000, or Choppers 25,000 bots? And people are going out of their way to have bots leave bad reviews?

@Code.Name.V July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

I highly recommend a 2008 Australian Neo-noir movie titled The Square. 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. If you like Coen brother's films, you will love this.

@stevekirkpatrick4965 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Thanks for the insight on these movies!

@neilphillips9163 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

The Hunt was absolutely terrifying in its realism

@JoeS-ml6dy July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Stop referencing rotten tomatoes scores. You're better than that

@kesagatame July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

For my personal tastes, this is one of the best top 10 list I’ve seen. Great variety of styles and genres. Just subbed, so keep up the great content! 😅

@Mukulele72 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Chopper, The Proposition and 24 Hour Party People? Fantastic list with truly and criminally underrated movies. 💯 agree

@galogiha July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

great list, Darren, but I think you need to watch 24h party people again… just saying.
cheers.

@solarjinx July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

I give zero clucks about Rotten Tomatoes ratings, but I give two thumbs up to this movie list.

@mgiebus1869 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

If you like Red Dead Redemption, watch The Proposition. Amazing flick and inspiration for the cover art

@David-iv6je July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Wow was never that impressed by "No Way Out." Solid I guess, but more for Gene Hackman than Costner. But I've seen all your other picks – except the Mads Madsen movie, which I've flagged to watch – and liked them all. I'd say Timecrimes is the least appreciated in the US.

@heirrose1606 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Why tf did you Spoil The Hunt for? SAY LESS FFS *You ruined the reveal the entire movie hinges on. Such douchebaggery by you makes me not want to watch future videos by you, whose channel I enjoyed until now, from fear of random Spoilers. Only the Spoiled spout Spoilers.

@AMERICANZOMBIETODAY July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Wasn't Rotten Tomatoes rating system exposed when they lied about the Captain Marvel film?

@gorryman July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

The Screenplay for the Proposition was written by Nick Cave if you need another reason to watch it besides it being one of the best modern westerns

@studio5ninephotography408 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

HEADHUNTERS !!! OMG …. great suggestion. This movie has some sneaky Gruesome unsettling scenes. One scene I couldn't watch cause it was so effing gross. Makes me wanna puke thinking about it …. hahahaha.

@dbob3405 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Nick Cave wrote the beautiful script for The Proposition and cowrote the soundtrack. It is as close to the mood of Blood Meridian as any Western I have seen. I mention this because Hillcoat has been tapped to direct the theatrical version of that amazing novel which, so far, no one has managed to turn into a completed film. Based on The Proposition, I have hopes that Hillcoat may pull it off. He did a decent job on The Road. I loved all the movies you mentioned—some of my favorites! Thanks

@revrabia July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Love THE HUNT . Very scary movie for me as I am a retired preschool teacher.

@joninawhitecoat July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

24 Hour Party People is not a mockumentary, it is very much a true story.

@sandermalschaert2336 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Try R as a prison movie if you're into that. Danish film, darkest I've seen.

@Crimenocerous July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Rented Time Crimes on a whim back in the day. I LOVED IT!

@Mark.remarking July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

What's the story behind the "rotten tomatoes" plug?

@SimonWhitworth July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Awesome to see you mention 24hr Party People, just a heads up it's not really a mockumentary it's actually loose based on the real life of Tony Wilson a pioneer television presenter who promoted bands around the Manchester area, the 'Factory Recors' label which managed acts such as Happy Mondays, A Certain Ratio, New Order (the former Joy Division) etc. and eventually (with the help of the along with members of Joy Division/New Order) set up the legendary Hacienda night club which was really the mecca for the dance/rave culture in the UK in the late 80s/early 90s. So yeah just a bit of context that all the story with the music/bands was real it was just an embelshiment of the story/character in certain parts with majority still being reasonably factually correct.

@JDubbHawks July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Awesome job my dude

@benfred8 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

What a great last nice job

@Anthony-ot8vl July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Just watched Dreams(1990). Great Japanese movie.

@becca3656 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

love this channel.

@sethc6176 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

Guy Pearce? Nope.

@ZillaMesh July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

I only care about audience ratings as critic reviews all seem political or bought & paid for.

@illlucid9279 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

I’d watch all these movies great list!

@KOrnhOliO1 July 31, 2024 - 9:41 am

REMEMBER: If you have a VPN you can choose the server you hook up to from a country that has a movie on this list that isn't available in your country, and watch it as if you lived in the servers country! Pretty darn co0ol! 😎🤘
