Movies To Video Games Reviews
Review #11
Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace for the Playstation and Personal Computer (PC) is fully reviewed and analyzed as compared to the actual movie itself.
Feel free to comment. More movies to video games reviews coming soon.. suggestions and feedback welcome and encouraged.
The second song in the comparison there is a little hard to read due to how long a title it is.. the song for those interested is called “The Droid Invasion and the Apperance of Darth Maul”.
In the means of saving space the score tallies used to get to the final score are listed here instead of in the review itself. They are on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the best score possible:
Story Accuracy to the Movie 6.5
(All the moments, characters and locations are straight from the movie and in order too. But a lot of not related and stretched moments are added in that really take away from things. Not to mention how some fun moments were missing all together from the game..)
Music Soundtrack Accuracy to the Movie’s 7.0
(The entire score in this game is right from the movie and in actual sound too. But some of the songs heard during certain moments are missing for a strange reason. When you are fighting Darth Maul you get a different song rather than Duel of Fates.)
Game Difficulty 3.5
(Double Jumps, searching for people, hard battles on limited energy.. The game has its hard moments and can make the game frustrating. A lot of the moments are straight forward though and consist of battling. But don’t expect an easy walk through the park with this game.)
Overall Fun 4.0
(It has its moments. A fan of the movie and any Star Wars fan will like being a Jedi and exploring Star Wars environments but they will be disappointed at many points from the boring and annoying aspects of the game. And the inaccuracy does hurt things greatly. Most won’t play this game again once beating it. But some will enjoy it greatly.)
Final Score: 5.00

Ok people, let me tell you something about this game. 😀 Some time ago i was talking, to one of this game developers (modeller from BIG APE), and he explained me all about this game. So Big Ape was a small game developing company. One day some guy from Lucas Arts shown and told them, to make a SW game, based on the newcoming Star Wars TMP movie, but there was few demands given by LucasArts. First one, the game meant to be directed for a simple, casual gamer. Second, it had to stay as close, to the movie as possible. They achive that, by showing Big Ape workers the movie, before it was even relased in cinemas (pretty cool if you ask me). So they started to work on the game. On the first thought it meant to be longer, than the final product was. It meant to have drivable vechicles and some other extra stuff, but the deadline come quickly and they had to cut some things. So now you see, why the game is what it is. The most interesting thing is, that Big Ape made also a "Not so legal" Multiplayer version of the game, but it was only for their use. It was buggy and had a deatchmatch mode available. There was Obi wan, Qui Gon and Mace Windu available to play in the MP version (You can still download the Mace Windu skin, from LucasForums, and yes. You can play as him in the normal SP game).
PLEASE NOTE: This review will count as the only game based on Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace to show up on this channel. While games like "Battle for Naboo" · "Jedi Power Battles" · "Obi-Wan" · "Obi-Wan's Adventures" ·"Episode 1 Racer (Arcade Game)" · and "Starfighter" are all in the Episode I universe, they are not directly based off of the entire film as the official movie based game of this movie as this game and only this game is.
It is one of my older reviews and was limited on the time allowed on youtube back then so its cut from what I would liked to add to it, but it is what it is and "Star Wars Episode I the Phantom Menace" movie based games have been completed fully as of this review. More Star Wars games will be showing up here in the future, just no more based on this film.
Beat it once, then could never get past the Theed level again. (The droids kept shooting me from off-screen.)
Liam neeson is from the lego movie and the nut job
Use to see my friend play this when i was a kid,jus ordered this brand new for ps1 to play on my ps3.
I still play the pc version of this awesome game
to be honest the droids were the only generic enemies in the film, if memory serves..
You should do Super Star Wars & Super Empire Strikes Back (both on Super Nintendo) & Super Return of the Jedi on Super Nintendo & Game Boy.
I would also suggest Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones for Game Boy Advance, but….
Please do Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith
Wow this was the 2ed game i got on playstation… first was nba live 99… but it was the first game i beat still love it just for the memories
hahaha well said
I remember some parts took me forever to beat! The level where you rescue jar jar especially!
At one point, I got a game over because Jar Jar died, and I thought "That's bad because…?"
This game may not have been a perfect re-creation of the experience from the movie, but it had it's own great moments that you miss if you try to just rush through it. On the Tatooine levels, there are so many different ways to play it that I consider them to be the funnest levels in the game. I can't even tell you how many times I've played those levels and I still don't think I've done everything there is to do on them. It's always fun to try to beat them because you always get a new result.
You better stand back mister because I'm about to SLASH………. all my prices!
i started playing this game almost ten years ago. i am still playing this game daily. i guess i must be part of the majority who 'enjoyed it greatly'.
This game had a looot of bugs and I still enjoyed it nevertheless 🙂
@EdikShepherd kinda like a predecessor to Kotor.
this game was really fun and i would play it again
@LordOfTheSmishlings look up used cheap ps1 games and its there for like 2 or 3 bucks. i just bought it
i remember playing this a way back but i dont remember the graphics being this shitti
Pretty retarded game overall. The demo was more enjoyable as it only featured the first level therefore cutting out all the more annoying crap.
More or less unavoidable encounters with large groups of battle droids using a lightsaber that will fail and get you hit more often than deflect bolts accurately made for wonderfully irritating combat, and the sparse distribution of health packs resulted in frequent restarts.
lol this game coulda been real good if it wasnt for the game play! i wish u could b in the podrace, and YES tryna beat maul without a cheat???? u cant fight him up close, he's too fast lol especially on the final battle
still got this some where in the loft such a great game lol
Best game for PS1
@GamingShadow01 It can't be underrated. Because that's saying that your opinion is fact which it's not just an opinion. Anyway I think it's one of the worst films of all time.
Very hard jumps to accomplish? I did them all when I was 10 lol
This is a HORRIBLE review. The change of pace made this game great! The puzzles were fun, the dialog made things interesting, and HOW could you bash Tatooine!!?!?!? That level was the most RPG moment in the whole game!
Oh, and you think the game was rushed? Well this entire review was rushed as you spoke too quickly and did a poor job at it. I give your review a 5/10.
how could you give this game a 5? it was the first comedy games i have ever played >.>
I dislike the movie, but maybe for different reasons than most people. The logical flaws relied on to move the story are horrible (for example Obi-wan and Qui gon shouldn't have given up so easily against droidekas. They didn't even try to harm them with the force) and I was very disappointed with the space combat. It was such a childish set of scenes.
But it had good combat, mostly good acting and bad-inagoodway-jokes.
ur review was dead on but still its one of my fav games of all time lol
@dbo514 i am with you!!!!
@GamingShadow01 Definately, as much as i like the other movies, the Phantom Menace is actually my favorite one, i think that people are not fair about this movie.
I want to be 10 again lol.
i was so young when I played this, it was awesome.
the best starwars game for the ps1 was Jeti power Battles, i feel bad giving tht game away
I was 2 wen this movie came out
