These days, you can find skateboarders in urban environments and surfers in beaches in many LEGO City sets, and unlike the early days, the surfboards weren't limited to windsurfing or longboarding, ever since a newer, shorter surfboard piece was introduced with a surfer from a collection of LEGO collectible minifigures…
I remember my elementary school had one of the soccer field sets in the library. It was pretty fun.
My first Lego set ever was the red soccer bus from Canada
If Lego had made a baseball field I would have been all over it, but at that time I didn't care for the other sports at all. I still don't but I would buy a basketball and soccer set today if I could
I wish they would remake these.
Interesting.
I do like the charm of yellow faces in Lego's original ips/themes, but for tie in i dont want draco malfoy to permanently have jaundice
my cousin who is 10 years older than me had a bunch of the soccer sets when he was little & by the time I was old enough to play with legos, those were my first sets ever as he handed them down to me.
You forgot the f1 sets
I feel like this should be a Lego City sub theme like this could work for city really well
Just wanted to say that you helped bring me out of my “licensed dark age”, I’ll call it. I’ve been a LEGO fan since I was a kid but in the last five years I’ve stuck mostly to Marvel sets. I’ve started buying a lot of older used sets, ranging from Trains to Sports to UFO. Actually one of the sets I got was the yellow and black train I remember you using as an example of one that was heading towards the “juniorisation” of LEGO. It actually packs in 800+ parts and the build didn’t feel too simple, except for the large car bases. Anyways, my collection is a lot more colorful and diverse because of your videos. My future kids (if I have any) will get a chance to play with original IPs.
I can almost guarantee that if LEGO brought back Sports, but as a collectable series with famous players of different teams and sports from all over the world, they'd be selling like hot cakes
Can you Lord of the rings
Nick, how are you not a sports guy?
I want these so bad the nba ones and the calcio (football)(soccer).
The song in the background gives me flashbacks to the Golden Knights choking their 3-0 lead in game 7 to the sharks 🙁
I did try that nba set once, it surprisingly kinda worked.
I believe they still make sport sets, but they are small and usually from an outside creator.
Heh oh the memories…. Remembering how these sets gave me a bit of a soccer hyperfixation back when I was in middle school.
i never liked sports in general, but those green plate things look interesting.
Man, I had so many of those soccer sets that I still have today and I tried to make movies with them so much because I was in a junior soccer team way back when, and I still get a…kick…out of them. (sorry not sorry) But yeah, dem basketball faces be weird. Almost glad I never got any. And the onyl Hockey stuff I got was a Happy Meal toy I'm pretty sure I lost. At least they tried.
for me, as a brown person, i dont feel represented by yellow figures. perhaps because of the simpsons i just see white ppl when i see a yellow figure
I think in the segment were you talked about the face prints you should have mentioned Sargent Winterbottom a early ww1 and ww2 stop-motion figure. Which is what some people remember that face print for.
