Some good choices, but Anthropoid being number 1 was a really weird and underwhelming choice, especially compared to the other meant-to-be "heavy hitters". Cinematically-speaking, I didn't think it was anything overly ambitious or strayed too differently in form, style and storytelling (compared to the more experimental approach of Dunkirk, or operatic Saving Private Ryan) from other good or decent WW2 films I'd seen, and was more comparable to Defiance, Flame & Citron or Valkyrie (which if anything, might've been more of a contender over Anthropoid for Oscar-bait, but I did like that movie too).

“In the end the only thing that Babylon walked away with was a legacy that is anything but great.” WOW, amazing writing 🤦🏽

@nicknorris100 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Cats should be 1.

@sammykewlguy July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

The Last Duel was a great film that came at a time when more mature audiences preferred the convenience of streaming. I wouldn’t even call it Oscar bait, but a film that was Oscar worthy but simply edged out but other films. I recommend it strongly to anyone.

@bobbyblazini July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Music wasn't that bad. I get the sentiment

@benjaminvictor8767 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Last Duel was great. It’s failure really killed the chance for well made period pieces from being made

@ajaysea6774 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

"The Last Duel" was legit great and should've been Nominated!

The problem is this stupid TikTok generation that has no attention span!

The cinematography was magnificent, the story was smart and intellegent – with the fragmented narrative and subtle changes that makes you question the truth, the whole cast was GREAT!!!

Like this was "Gladiator" level amazing! And I'm never gonna get over how it was so overlooked.

@queencancerous5332 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

The Last Duel is far from being a bad movie, it was sandwiched between a crappy Halloween sequel and Dune. It also got no marketing whatsoever.

@Julia-lk8jn July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Greatest showman has a great cast and some great songs, but I'll happily stake it and bury it at a corssroad for 1. falling into that abysmal "if something goes horribly wrong, it must be due to a woman, preferably a jelaous one" and 2. USING A WOMAN WHO WAS WAY ABOVE SUCH ACTIONS instead of at least just making one up. Using woman as obviously philantropic as her, and reducing her to some vain, selfish, cruel diva? [[ flock of 4 letter words ]] and the horses you rode in on, writers .

@kevensnes July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Why do people hate Amsterdam? I loved it

@billynair July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Mr. Holland's Opus was the first movie that I noticed to be "checking boxes"

@alancawfield6549 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

The book The Last Duel is based on (also called The Last Duel) is brilliant, it's well worth reading.

@d.b.1176 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Never heard of these movies.

@fizzygillespie July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Sia has always been all gimmick and little talent.

@mikeedward9595 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Apparently "Of All Time" only applies to the past 20 years or so.

@bcperry1973 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

I liked Anthropoid, but then again I'm a WW2 nerd. Musicals are so niche now, I question why they are made into movies.

@stoneymcneal2458 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Most of the films on this list were released in the last 20 years. Is that a coincidence?

@KhalofKhals July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Poor Things was so forced on the public and not Oscar worthy

@wfchannel4673 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

all time? most of these are far too recent. cats and alexander i'll grant you, but the rest? meh. there are far bigger misfires. where's ishtar, bonfire of the vanities, or waterworld? showgirls should probably be on the list as well.

@catchbooker7257 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Concerned with revisionism about The Last Showman (which I've never seen) yet no-one complained about Braveheart (which I love.)

@catchbooker7257 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

I liked the last duel. Edit-Obviously nobody saw it but it wasn't a bad film.

@bobreid5079 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Two words: Simple Jack

@tdcv6309 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Make a video of 15 minutes and ignore the biggest award-baity topic in hollywood which is the holocaust, how could they miss that?

@DeadPixel1105 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

4:13 Holy shit, who the hell thought this was a good idea? Even though mockery wasn't the intent, it is very easy to see why so many were offended. Growing up, this is how kids acted if they were trying to MAKE FUN of autistic and mentally handicapped people. And 4:49… What the f*ck is that even supposed to be? The head and eye movement. It looks SO ridiculous.

@MeepMeep88 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

11:44 hahaha I always put this movie on just to have a good chuckle..
Dude looks 40 and he's playing a highschooler hahaha

@peterhill8398 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Others I’d add to the list:
Cloud Atlas (2012)
The Butler (2013)
The Goldfinch (2019)

@newtheis July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Half of these movies I watched, and they were okay, but I had no idea they were considered "Oscar bait". The other half I did not watch (Cats, Marwin, etc) did not interest me. BTW, Cats, no one ever said this was, will be a success, did they?

@kluaoha731 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

If this were made a year later, Maestro would 100% be here.

@purpleroom101 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Never ceases to amaze me that remakes of brilliant originals are usually crap!!
Rebecca is a prime example. Nothing against the actors…and I only saw the snippets… but why fk with brilliance??
I dare any money hungry producer to remake The Sound of Music or Breakfast at Tiffany's or Gone With The Wind or even The Wizard of Oz. They can't. They are classics…but some drip thinks he can remake Rebecca??
I understand modernising A Star Is Born or even Carrie, but classics like Little Women which remain in the same period?? Just why?? It's insulting to the original!!

@saintsalieri July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

People capable of being offended by a movie about a severely autistic person are by definition not in the community being portrayed. I imagine a lot of self-diagnosed "I once felt awkward" autistic people broke their keyboards though.

@mooviedude141 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

The greatest showman is a really good movie tho…shouldnt be on this list

@Joehairsniffer July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Why tf am I getting ads on premium

@flippert0 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

As a wise man once said: "Never go full retard!"

@MikeMeeple July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Um… Radio anyone?

@IamtheLunchlady July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Honestly thats how i feel about A Star is Born. Felt like it was a movie fishing for awards from the start. Great music, but yeah

@asprywrites6327 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Pretty sure "of all time" is as big a stretch as any of these films winning awards.

@bigbitehood1353 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Wtf is that thumbnail

@JrocDaBx July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Unfortunately The Last Duel wasn’t black enough that year

@gerell9000 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

None of these are what should be considered "oscar bait"…..Either smoke more or less of whatever made y'all come up with list.

@Phoenix-MX1 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

The Last Duel actually was a good film. idk about oscar worthy but i think it's worth a watch or 2. Anthropoid straight put me to sleep.

@viragogemini7403 July 19, 2024 - 5:07 pm

Have you seen cats? Girl I want to unsee it
