im doing into the woods rn, it’s the first production that I’ve been apart so I’m excited for opening night soon!!
I dont know if it just because its a middle school production but our “hell week” wasnt that bad! but i bet it will be hell when i do high school theatre though.
We just got the cast list for my schools musical (beauty and the beast) and I got cogsworth which I’m so excited for! He is probs my biggest part so far lines wise but I’ve been doing theatre since kindergarten and have a lot of experience so I’m not nervous lol but I def feel like the show is going to be amazing and I’m so excited for rehearsals to start!
I just started a musical so uhh now I’m scared for tech week 👏👏👏👏

i know this video is a few years old but i just recently got hired as the assistant director for a local community production of Clue, and im jazzed! and also way overthinking it lol so I've been looking for theatre vlogs to help me process.

Ok so we're doing Newsies. it's tech week. I play Davey. I'm a girl. the show was written for guy voices, so they guys are belting high notes and the girls are either killing ourselves with low notes or absolutely dying singing octaves up. well, we didn't learn seize the day til last week. I never got to work on it privately. Well, I'm performing Friday with basically no training in it and my voice won't stop shaking because we've damaged them from belting so much. 🙁
Being sick during tech week is like a right of passage for a theatre kid. When we did mama mia two years ago, almost the entirety of our leads were sick. On the last show of the wedding singer the same thing happened. It was crazy.
For my show we only have rehearsal Friday’s for 2 hours sad right. So our “tech week” is 2 rehearsals before the performance 3 hours long.
The show I'm doing is Matilda and it's 5 weeks till the show and the girl who plays Matilda barley knows her lines
My biggest role was john northbrooke (i forget how it was spelt) in mary poppins-
Tech week always feels like everything is falling apart… it all comes together in the enddd

Update; the shows tomorrow, tech rehearsal was a disaster and we hardly have the show finished
I posted a theatre vlog bc u inspired me!
It was our first day in the theatre yesterday and now we have our opening night tonight 😅 it’s good but to say we are all nervous is an understatement
loved the chaotic energy of the vlog
It’s not a Highschool show if it doesn’t feel like a train wreck up until opening night
I'm so jealous. My biggest part was about 150 lines, but it was made up of a bunch of small parts, and one of them was cut for time and parts of the other were cut and I ended up with 30 lines 😭. I have one more musical I can do at my acting class and its either going to be shrek, matilda, fame, or mean girls. Either way, I'm so excited

I have Tech week next week for Insomniac Society and I can’t get my lines down! I’m Ninja of the Night so I have a pretty important role, I’m really excited to be back onstage after 2 years, but also my best friend can’t make it so I’m so nervous because he’s kinda always where I am-

Update-I’m in theatre our show called “the reckoning” starts this week on Tuesday!! I didn’t get casted as anything for tech or actors team but hopefully next show!! I’ve been there for some rehearsals and it looks soo good

I never understood why everyone involved was so sad when the show was over the last night but now I do, I got the chance to be a part of a show and help everybody it felt so good. Tonight was our last show and I feel so sad about it being over now, at least I still get to see them at the theatre fest this Saturday tho or speech and debate.

i did into the woods (playing cinderella) early 2021 in a break between lockdowns… we're now deep in lockdown again and this has given me such NOSTALGIA AND JOY <3

Wow I'm late haha. We finished my first musical performances a while back . And I literally can't sing at all, but I love acting(so like one act is literally where I thrive haha)and my school did nice work if you can get it, our Elaine had been gone for a bit because of athletics, so I had to go on for her during rehearsal. And I loved it so much. After that I came to the audition and I signed up for techie when I tell you the director was pissed she was really pissed. She told me ' Elizabeth, please just audition. You get up there and I garente you will have a lead role.' but I INISTED on doing tech so she left it alone. Now I regret it and gesosjwhwjjwkwjssjweja
Into the Woods was the first musical I ever did. Not my favorite musical but it holds a special place in my heart. Ours had a lot more dancing.
