Fortnite On Xbox Series X is Disappointing (Xbox One X vs Series X, Side by Side Comparison)

Fortnite received a version update for the next gen of consoles. In this video we do a side by side comparison of Fortnite on the Xbox Series X and on the Xbox One X in 4K and 1080p, comparing the differences in graphics and performance between the two versions. (Menus, customization, load times, startup times, gameplay experience, etc.)

Sooo, Fortnite now has a 120 FPS mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X, so most of my criticisms are taken care of.

I made a follow up video to this one that clarifies my views on the series X and Fortnite. If anything it is up to the developer (Epic in this case) to utilize the hardware of next gen consoles to their full potential, and it is my opinion that Epic has failed to do that in this case (having a performance/120fps at 1080p+ mode would have changed my opinion). I still think the Xbox Series X is a great console and worth it for a lot of games (especially like the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 which will have greatly reduced load times on the Series X)! Overall I am extremely grateful to have luckily snagged a Series X and have thoroughly enjoyed playing games on it, just not Fortnite...

I have to stress that the opinions I give in this video are just that, opinions. A good amount of people may disagree and say that the priorities Epic made for graphics over responsiveness and speed were the right call. I would have strongly preferred 120 fps and the option to turn off vertical sync at 1080p resolution, that's the main reason I am disappointed, but perhaps we will see a performance mode at some point down the road! Still going to do videos for Fortnite and I do think the series X will help make the videos look better, so that's a plus!

I think the reason this is so similar is because you didn't turn on 4k uhd. Then it looks 10 million x better

This is totally different now that we’re in Chapter 3 with more mechanics and details that load the game more. I played fortnite on my xbox one and it feels more similar to mobile/switch than console now in terms of the art style. They changed the lighting and colors of the ground loot, taller grass, “shiny” or elusive water waves, the death animations, the harvesting animations the sky’s contrast and shadowing etc. I’ve been playing next gen since feb 2021 and I’m used to it now…but It does feel and look different now when I go back to a older console

Not sure how much you ACTUALLY play Fortnite but the next gen console and update both made the game a lot better as far as visuals and smoothness of gameplay.

My only issue with the x is it is so fing hard or find but the s is super easy to find and is half the cost I would recommend the x if you care about graphics and not price but if you like frames and have a bugget get the s or wait a couple of months to see if the x dropps in price

You might have shadow effects in one game, or maybe reflections in BFV... unfortunately it is very taxing to go through a 4K, Ray Tracing, and generational leap all at the same time on hardware that just hasn't been around long enough... wait 2 or 3 years, then get a pro model of the console... if you play on PC wait til RTX (50 Series?)

Isn’t reliable to be honest. Fortnite has daylight cycle. so one game is obviously different time then other, so one is much brighter then other already….

I did not get any of what your saying I use a lg tv. And my fortnite looks and feels way better on next gen. So maybe because this is 6 months old and my consle arrived last Monday fortnite might of improved it because I see way better in storm and in map so idk that's just me and my experience and this is just at 1080p 120hz 120fps get into 4k looks better but way smoother on 1080p 120hz 120fps
