If the film was released later they could've put a wii remote in the film as advertising or product placement before the release of the game for an advertisement opportunity to get kids excited for the console release a year later

I don't think that many people grew up with it per say.

I first herd about this when the twilight movies came out. Because the kid who played shark boy was the guy who played the werewolf love interest.

Also a lot of the movie is so weird because it was shot for 3d. I think that ultimately is why it has such terrible reviews.

Around 2006 2007 they played this movie alot on YTV which is where I and I assume lots of others saw it originally. When I was a kid watching it though I thought Lava Girl was the girl who plays Carmen Cortez even though they don't look alike. I think my confusion came from Spy Kids 3 where when they see Carmen for the first time her armor or whatever it is is pink.

Bruh, Industrial Light and Magic did some of the effects?!

It's George Lucas' company.
They did the effects for star wars, space balls, back to the future, terminator, Jurassic fucking park!
And thats just up to the 90s that I can name off the top of my head

Fun fact: the plot of this was first made by the kid who played sharkboy in the prologue thing and max is a literal self insert of him

This movie is such a big fever dream it seemed so magical and fun as a kid. It's the equivalent of every kid's imagination running wild. But now as an adult, you can tell how dumb it is. But the nostalgia got a hold on me, and that's why I still love it now. (sorry if this is hard to read I'm dyslexic)
