Life finds a way…Jake (that’s me!) is enjoying a relaxing vacation at Jurassic Park when something goes terribly wrong and the dinosaurs escape their cages. With the prehistoric beasts running rampant, the race is on to get to the last boat off the island…and see if you could survive the awesome power of a T-Rex bite, being hunted by Pterosaurs and conversely, whether or not dinosaurs could actually survive in OUR world.

Welcome back to CYSTM Season 2! I really hope you love this episode. It was a dream to make as you'll find out why in the behind-the-scenes linked in the description. See you next week for another FREE episode!

Yes the premise of the movie is that through genetic engineering we all live together as the new geneticist engineered them to be with us at the same time. So game over or in this case video is over due to lack of hypothesis being interjected at the same equivalent.

Jake you forget the DNA it was spliced with modern animals

The general research in this video is all over the place, they ignore all of the nuance in feathers on tyrannosaurus but have a fairly good, albiet conservative restoration of velociraptor. At the same time ignoring and implying that modern restorations aren’t cool enough so using outdated reconstructions is fine. When these were animals that once walked the Earth, not movie monsters for your entertainment. And then 10:52 comes in and calls pterosaurs flying dinosaurs. I don’t hate that statement because they are at least the closest animals to dinosaurs that aren’t dinosaurs. But then they also ask about pteranodon in the introduction even though they are testing the strength of an azhdarchid, which is a completely different family of pterosaur. The only saving grace is they used pterosaur instead of pterodactyl, which is like the bare minimum.

I just love how Jake's dad was just chillin the entire time letting his son have fun before saving him lol

Funny thing about the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park is they are similar to a Raptor species named Utahraptor. Ironically Utahraptor was discovered a couple of months before Jurassic Park’s debut in 1993. Crazy that in trying to make scarier Velociraptors, ILM basically predicted a species of dinosaur not yet discovered.
@silverknight5569 June 11, 2024 - 3:21 am
They also knew velociraptors weren't accurate... they wanted something distinct but still dangerous so they rebranded a large raptor into the smaller velociraptor

I think it will be possible to get dinosaur DNA. There are just so many millions of copies. They are all damaged, but not damaged exactly the same way. If each were read, in a sample, there should be enough intact small bits of DNA, in each copy. Normally super small pieces would not be that useful, but if relative location was also known, which should be obtainable, perhaps using nanites, it is conceivable that it could be fully deciphered. I am not saying we could do this in 5 years. It might only be possible 50 years or 500 years from now. Just that the information is not permanently lost. Some will be. I suspect, not every species' DNA is out there, that is in the fossil record. Though, we may get DNA from dinosaurs or other creatures that have never been found in the fossil record. I suspect, also, that there are more sources than just amber.
Further simplifying the task, there are likely more probable or even consistent ways, different patterns of DNA are damaged, in the same way we could learn to recognize what kind of bug was smashed on our windshield, we may deduce what the section of DNA originally said before it was hit by a cosmic ray.

“In real life raptors are small”
So your not going to talk about the Utahraptor that was about as big as the “velociraptor” depicted in Jurassic park, it might actually be bigger.
