One problem is people gonna go to hard because I look at people around them. They end up with Dunnes, are they realise they are not so good at cardio for example, riding a bike mean sore after 15 minutes, and then they donโ€™t bother going again are they go every day in the same muscle groups they donโ€™t make any progress and just give up

give a man some fire, and he's warm for a day. light a man on fire and he's warm for the rest of his life.

I have an issue where once i see a little progress, i start to get lazy

I decided to start working out just over a year ago, went to the gym on a cruise (yea, January ๐Ÿ˜› ), and messed up my psoas doing squats. Then I rehabbed and learn more, and I'm still learning, but I haven't given up. I even have a workout room in my house.
MAKE SURE your hip is good and strong. Don't mess around with your glutes or hip flexors and forget about them. Strengthen your hips.

@TheWalterHWhite June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

I eat decent and workout so I can get in shape and not look like shit. Then I eat like shit and workout so I can look decent. The Yin and Yang.

@oatmeal82 June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

Getting in shape wasn't a new year's resolution for me. I wanted to be a pro wrestler for the longest time and finally this year I reached my goal weight and now am working on gaining muscle and building strength.

@tangles01 June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

No no, My bag is 100% in a face of Cheetos, and it glorious.

@hughjainus9301 June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

I donโ€™t watch for the fitness advice. I watch because simons positive attitude makes my day better

@CFLavertu June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

I disagree about having a gym friend. I feel like itโ€™s okay to workout together for fun once in a while but you should never count on anyone to workout with you. I say this by experience. Eventually you wonโ€™t both have the same level of motivation. But thats okay! Just donโ€™t train together as a habbit ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ thatโ€™s my opinion

@swampdog1592 June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

@jesustrujillo8806 June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

I noticed all those people at the gym the other day. They were also making a lot of mistakes. It didnโ€™t look unsafe. It just looked funny. I also didnโ€™t want to be that guy that goes around correcting people, so I just minded my own business.

@tsohgallik June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

@dansalter7594 June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

Food is defiantly the key! Since April I have watched your videos everyday they drop, you have motivated me to change my food, I eat good tasting food Monday – Sunday now, I donโ€™t even have my cheat meal once a week anymore, since October I have had 2 because my food choices are now that good! Iโ€™m lucky I have a home gym set up, so I have gained cm everywhere while losing 6.7kg. This is all because of Simon's advice. Defiantly listen to him, No BS and it will help you make the right choices for you. Keep making the vids Miller, have a great 2021

@jlhflex June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

25% of people who make a resolution stop before 30 days, 8% dont make 60 days….. I never make New year's resolutions I think they're bullshit. Real discipline doesn't need an excuse to create a goal.. You either want it or you dont.

@scaramouchew June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

@Fitnessvida June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

Most people fail because they weren't actually ready for change in the first place.

@thepetermullins June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

For my wedding, I did a UFC style weight cut. I went from 100kgs to 83kgs in a month and a half. Guess what? I piled it straight back on because it was totally unsustainable (as in I probably would have died at that rate of diet/exercise!!). I'm 110kgs now and I'm aiming to dip back to 93kgs by next year.

@SladeFilms June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

New years resolution is to drop the final 12 pounds and get to 15% body fat.

@robertkarlsson7238 June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

I heard that you are a gooner, Simon ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ me too!! Always New there were something really good about you ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿ‘Š

@Gainzbysophie June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

I made the choice to get stronger and bigger in January 2020 after spending the 1st 6months unsure / not going.
2021 is to plain better when it comes to meals and gym and to just stick to it even if I donโ€™t feel like going doing 5min workout for 6 days a week is better then 0. If I canโ€™t get to the gym then workout at home. And to remember to have rest days as I suck at doing that.

@paulcadogan4940 June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

Did anyone else have a โ€œV Shredโ€ ad at the start of this? The guy should be banned from spreading his BS. Says you shouldnโ€™t do cardio and can eat burgers to perform โ€œcarb confusionโ€

Please do a video response ๐Ÿ˜€

People trying to work out because they feel guilty about their unhealthy lifestyle, is like people trying to quit smoking because "It costs too much". Super weak reasons that don't actually motivate anything when it gets hard. I've seen it happen over and over and over. You need deep reasons man. Reasons that burn with a blazing fire inside your soul.

For example, here are some of my personal reasons that keep me staying active.

1.) Physical activity makes me feel happy, pumped up, and excited when I already have a good energy.
2.) I enjoy taking part of a great community of people at my Gym. I volunteer there and feel appreciated.
3.) I am competitive with others in a friendly way, I see other people far beyond my fitness level and want to do better than them.
4.) Working out is simple and mindless, and as someone with a lot of internal monologue and anxiety it's a mental relief.
5.) I take pride in seeing what I can do, feeling uncomfortable, and accomplishing things I didn't think I could.
6.) I like my body and care about my mental and physical well being and want to do everything I can to live a long life.
7.) It's a vain reason, but I can't stand excessive body fat on me, it feels gross to me whenever it's bouncing around on my belly.
8.) I see exercise as something productive I can do no matter what is happening in my life or how I feel. It's something I'm in full control of.
9.) When I'm doing a hard workout, I literally feel high sometimes. I just start laughing, it feels great. Sometimes I get an afterglow.
10.) I love being outside and seeing the world and the city, running around, climbing, jumping and moving my body.
11.) One of my biggest joys in life is simply riding my bike on a nice day. I honestly feel super happy and content doing so.

There are more reasons, but stuff like this is why I've continued to stay active whether I am up or down or impeded in some way. Through hospitalization or debilitating physical or mental issues. You honestly couldn't stop me from working out because it's a huge pillar of my life. Some weak ass resolution reason isn't going to accomplish anything when the going gets tough or you can't see any quick tangible results.

@UnbearabIe June 11, 2024 - 3:34 pm

I get that this is a video about not quitting the gym. However from my own personal experience people that say they need to lose weight; use the fact that they can't afford or don't have a friend to hold them accountable to go to the gym as an excuse. Of course going to the gym is great, but the whole purpose of fitness isn't to just build muscle. Also most beginners could most certainly benefit from body weight exercises and changing their diet. Plus going for walks. I do love going to the gym, but hate when people pigeon hole fitness into " oh I can't go to gym " as the reason they aren't healthy or in shape.
