Just been in tears listening to this & bringing back the memories. They certainly don't know how to make theme music like this nowadays.
Liked both themes brings back happy memories
I was 13 years old and still remember these programs good times 👍
Aways loved this theme
BLOODY AWFUL…but i do like jeff waynes jubilation lol
Much prefer the older theme with the light aircraft.
Brings back memories
The original one is The Real World Of Sport theme
They knew how to compose great TV themes in those days…..
It`s crap
OK, so it's not the more iconic WoS theme, but good grief I flipping love it. Jeff Wayne totally nailed a bunch of TV themes around this time.
Remember watching this round my nuns house every Saturday, when the "Pool" results came on we used to try to predict the scores

We're all sort of adjacent to themes that we grew up with — yes, those that are older will prefer the theme they grew up with, but – well, I and many others here remember this HUGELY.
It's a brilliantly exciting bit of work.
It also hugely reminds me of those long lost Saturday afternoons after my brother and I being dragged through various shops and markets and we got back home in the early afternoon, with some pasties and a jam doughnut. And then this started, We listened to the theme, watched some of it for a while when eating our brilliant lunch, and, well, just went up to our bedroom to play some games on the ZX Spectrum.
Those were the days of sports theme tunes.
The first few seconds continued to be used as the intro music for the Results service after WoS was axed. Maybe up until about 1987.
Thanks
Synthesis excellence !

War of the worlds meets sports
I don't care what anyone says, I think this is brilliant. Stop comparing it to the previous theme.
I do miss Saturday afternoon Motocross and Speedway on tv. World of Sport and Grandstand were excellent viewing
I don't remember this theme tune and i was around at the time.
