I agree with the desire for a Sapphire crystal, and the willingness to sacrifice the back to get there. In the end, it's handsome, I just wish there was less glare off the crystal.

Omg….stop. Get a field watch with a sapphire crystal. Why would you buy a watch with a hardlex crystal? All the good attributes go out the window with that first scratch……ugh.

I think this watch is really great
Honestly feels it’s price. I picked up the green one quite recently.

Also I Absolutely agree:
The orange highlighted pips are so refreshing and pop so nice.

And the hands,
Being a hybrid between sword and syringe in my opinion are super legible, big fan.

The SRPH23 black dial is the best looking seiko 5 ever made imho. I love mine. Its my favorite watch in my collection.

I bought a Casio G-Shock from Amazon and it survived because it was a G-Shock. They tossed the box in an envelope so the box was utterly destroyed. I ordered this watch yesterday also from Amazon. I really hope they don't do the same thing again although it wouldn't surprise me at all.

First - Nice video! I love Seiko, and own several Seiko autos and vintage quartz watches...
On this new, b-style flieger timepiece: Seiko still missed the mark (literally) by not luming the classic triangle index @ 12:00! Personally, one of my main complaints about the SNK80x's. The new, orange cardinal markers are great - but 12:00 always needs to be easily distinguishable, at a glance, in the dark, on-or-off the wrist! Geeez... As for the other improvements...anyone who owns a 7s26 movement knows how to "hack" the movement - if necessary. Hand winding, eh... 40mm, eh... Domed Hardlex, eh... Another big miss, for me, is the crown @ 3:00... I love the crown @ 4:00 position - especially on my SKX173. Way more comfortable, IMO - and pretty unique. Since you can still purchase all of the SNK80x's - 95% of the watch, at < half the cost - it'll be interesting to see how these sell. Thanks for posting!

Nobody sells that watch for $ 175.00 , pretty much is from $ 240.00 and up , you were lucky to find the watch at that price due to the damaged box . I psid $ 240.00 for mine in Amazon .

I've never scratched a hardlex crystal on any of my seiko's, don't understand the hate it gets. If you get a sapphire here they will have to cut costs on the AR coating which is a downgrade for me compared to hardlex with liberally applied AR.
Like others are commenting, I'll wait until the price drop on these and pick one up

I got ithe black version SRPH33 from Amazon, the package was ok but missing manual. Also the watch date numerals printings was not clean, missing white paint on a number. Poor QC. Got it at a great price but had to return because of the QC issue :(

It's as if Seiko are trying to price themselves out of business, even for a Seiko fan their prices are so out of touch, especially when the specs are NOWHERE near what the price dictates these days.
It really is no surprise to see so many Chinese watches flood the market at MUCH less AND with better specs.

Nice upgrade from the snk809 line. I know from the snk809 line the bands were terrible. Welcomed that they made the case a more appropriate size. The orange lume looks cool

I own this watch from Seiko. What attracts me to it is the amazing dial design. The strap is very nice too. I do also believe that it should have been fitted with a sapphire crystal, but this domed hardex with AR coating is very nice.

The non-hacking version, when it first came out was under $80. Even at today's prices, the watch has essentially doubled in price for hacking and hand winding but nothing else has been improved.

Amazon has a decent return policy. Watch is usually sold from a secondary watch store that does business with Amazon. Nice watch, I was looking at the SRPH33, the orange and yellow black out version.

Picked up this same model at the same price from Amazon as well...complete with beat up boxes. That said, it'll satisfy its purpose as a travel watch with low theft potential that will "dress up" a bit with a leather strap. So far, it seems to run fast at ~+10s/day. Like the look quite a bit as it reminds me of my father's WWII pilot watch the he wore for years after the war winding it dutifully every evening--so it's got some nostalgic appeal as well. (I tossed the boxes.)
