8 piles of fitness nonsense we’re all desperate to believe, because if it were true, getting in shape would be easy. Sadly it’s not…
But whether it be blaming all our non-gains on supplements, the magical post-workout protein shake, being scared of cardio or the goal to try and sweat, there’s a lot of stupid stuff out there in gym land which is easy to believe. Why wouldn’t you?
Let’s put it to bed, though, so hopefully we never have to fall for it again!

Muscles take energy to maintain. Your body don't want that, your body want it's maintenance to the absolute minimum possible because calories (Read energy here) are hard to come by in nature! You have to fight it and give it good reason to believe these muscles are worth the energy expendature!
Awesome channel 👍
Gotta add the good old one: "You can turn your fat into muscle". Two people who don't lift (or do any physical exercise for that matter) vehemently preached this to me last year. I thought this was dead years ago. They literally told me to "bulk up" through "eating McDonalds every day". Insisted that they've seen "these big guys in their home country do it", or something. Sure.
You said we are all going to get old, I am sixty and listen to your advice, are you only talking to young people?
4 the algorithm.
Don't lift heavy, MOVE heavy. Barbell weights are unnatural (Evenly balanced, symmetrical, easy to grip, evenly distributed weights) are the exact opposite of real world objects. The movements are unnatural (nobody deadlift, benchpresses, Barbell squats anything in the real world) since isolation exercises for muscles are not how they are meant to function which is why so many Weightlifters suffer high rates of injuries.
The human body is meant to move itself first, external objects second. Forget lifting heavy, start moving heavy. Avoid the gym and move everyday objects. It's free and natural. It leads to real world functional strength. Other wise you gym bros are all show and no go.
Great advice as usual! These videos give me so much motivation.

This video deserves more views, 100% on the money
Man I hate when people discredit others at working out, just to make themselves feel better.
Like just f**k off 😂🤦♂️
I actually feel like getting in shape is easier than staying in shape. Reaching your fitness goals is what initially motivates you.
But imagine that you're running a marathon and when you reach the end you discover that there is no finish and it lasts the rest of your life.
Being able to keep up the discipline and dedication it takes week after week, month after month, and year after year is a daunting task.
Great advice always tune in for the honest content that you put out Simon alot of fitness videos that put out so much false info just to sell stuff
Couldn’t hit Like on this video hard enough!
Being worried that lifting heavy will make you bulky is like worrying that driving to work will turn you into a nascar driver.
Mate, notngoing to lie, I always love your words, they just make sense
I almost never get DOMS, it only happens if I do a full body workout TO FAILURE for me.
Came for the fitness advice. Stayed for the snarky undertones and manic rants. Subbed
The secret to getting fit is…. ACTION! And consistency!! My "BaldAsshole" is right. I am did the P90X about 15 years ago and was hard a hell and got results. I say that because it took commitment and hard work. I could have had better results but I didn't diet. I have been fairly fit all my life and still "Get at it" like David Goggins says. I is import to listen to people who have done work and you can see their work through years of consistency. So get off your arse and put in the consistent work, eat and lastly sleep better.
too right!
Arms are looking great, man!
I was clearing scrub from around the summer house (it was there when we bought the house) and junk that had been left there since 2009 by the builders (found a copy of a tabloid rag)… so it was long overdue and I was sweating so much I had to go and have a shower. (my watch also recorded 97 minutes of exercise)
I sweat easily my preferred temperature is below 20C… when I was fitter a PT in my gym asked me to come along when it was closed to get photos done for his website.. he wanted shots of someone swearing hard… 10 minutes pushing hard on a spin bike and I was dripping.
As you say some people sweat easily some struggle and some don't and they have a real issue.

Full of good advice
The best post work out food? A couple of hard boiled eggs and 500mls of lightly salted water.
Interesting side note on doing cardio: I'm a skinny fucker and my biggest problem was always appetite. Never did cardio as I didn't wanna burn any precious calories. Finally gave in and started swimming on rest days, and lo and behold my appetite is huge now😂🤦🏻♂️. Should have thought of it sooner.
Step 1 make sure you have the best gym gear and look super stylish
Step 2 you are now ripped
Simon you sir are looking good. Nice bicep vein
For shame, Simon! What have you been doing to that poor penguin? Give him his clothes back! 😛
As a woman, the whole "don't want to get bulky" thing annoys me! You're not just going to wake up one morning with a different body composition! It's especially frustrating when women say it because you need the testosterone of a man to "look like" a man 🙄
More Plates More Dates would disagree on the PED argument.. EVERYONE is on drugs, EVERYONE! 😉
9:11–9:14 I personally think that phrase is pretty overused and generic.
But regardless of whether I think a phrase is overused and generic or not, This video overall was pretty helpful. Thank you Simon.
I AM A SUCCESS 🙂
Love your content, always puts a smile on my face. Thanks 🙂
I do golf & hill walking for cardio. The idea of 30-45 minutes on the treadmill or elliptical machine bores me to tears. I get why we avoid it…
Bathis!
Great advice. Hate the 3rd point though.
I used to be jelous because my hasband sweats more in the gym than me, then one day I realised he is always warmer than me and maybe that is way he sweats more.
It takes more then muscles to have strength. If that pisses you off.
You’re on ped’s
I like to workout after my breakfast has digested and cook lunch during my rest periods.
I know the anabolic window isn't a thing, but it helps me not forget to eat and I like eating.
Helping with the algorithm🙊
The whole "heavy weights will make my muscles huge" one makes me sad. Some people really think it's that easy to build muscle. I just want to shake them and tell them: "No! It takes literal years of consistent hard work and eating right!"
Not to mention that if you do decide to do PED's, you still have to actually put the work in. So the guy counting is 10 – 12 reps at a 3 on RPE
and then going home to play with his/her "mates" or Fortnite or whatever, is likely just shortening their life and blowing money for nothing.
Another great Video Simon ^_^ Love the channel
VShred commercial while watching Simon. Nice try YouTube…nice try.
Enjoyed the video, commenting for the algorithm.
I'm really glad you made this video because it will help some people clear out the nonsense pushed so hard into their heads and hearts by others with bad agendas. Back in the days when I hit the gym, I boosted the effectiveness of my workouts by starting my lifting workout with at least 10 solid minutes of cardio. It really made the rest of the hour so much better and in many ways much easier to lift more weights for longer.
If only I could eat Haribo and not get fat AF. I have no self control around it! Damn you Color-rado!
New subscriber ❤️ Love the attitude, great video! 💪
What was this video about

Yo Simon, does your store merchandise actually restock or is it just buying out extremely fast? Flexorcist tank top always seems to be out 😂
