So many great horror films are only made scarier by rewatching them, as we see new details we never caught before and we’re even more unsettled by certain scenes when we know where they’re headed. That said, there are a few horror movies that are just too upsetting to watch more than one time.
Maybe they feature scenes of torture we don’t want to experience again, or maybe their themes are just too heavy, but we would have a hard time turning any of these on a second time. Let’s take a look at the hardest horror movies to watch more than once.

The Sacrament | 0:00

What horror films do you think should've made this list?
That's it, only those? There should be more.
I didn't think Audition was that bad.
We all know that the saddest parts in any kind of movie is when a Dog dies
I think audition is super overrated
Nice nice, 1 movie, popular movie haha!
Lake mungo was such a let down.
The Invitation was really really good watched it a few times, I think it’s not really disturbing but definitely awsome. And the martyrs is absolutely crazy if you don’t know anything about it before watching 😂 I just thought she killed those people and then yeah the other girl got tortured it was so unexpected
What about Zombie Ass:Toilet of the Dead? I dare you to sit through it twice!
Seriously though, Funny Games is a disturbing movie. I’d also put Green Inferno on the list. That’s a fucked up and graphic movie. And although I can watch it over and over, The Belko Experiment is kind of disturbing.
I really think they should do a remake of this video. I find that Cats was horrifying and it kept me scared throughout the film. I don’t think I can ever watch that movie again.
Lake Mungo has shaken me to my core.
Anyone heard of a Korean film called the Butcher?
Lake mungo is the most underated horrorovie ever
I'm scared
A Serbian Film and The Human Centipede 2 should be here…
Audition would be hard to watch again because it was so damn boring. And the last 20 minutes of this 2 hour movie that it led up to was really not that bad at all. Just don't bother. Please trust me.
Audition and Funny Games might be brutal and disturbing, but they're such good movies. I'd gladly watch Audition again… but Funny Games is a whole other story.
A Serbian film was the most disturbing film I’ve ever seen, I’m surprised it is not on here. I will never watch it again, it was too much for me, although it was horrifically good if you’re interested in it, the subject of it and what it showed was just too much for me
Audition is everything 💉
Session 9, The Entity
The invitation was a good movie
Lake Mungo is the scariest film I've ever seen. It's not even that scary a film, but it builds up to it and then just ugh. SO GOOD.
Chained?
Kazam staring shaq O’Neil
Found.
I’ve seen the invitation like 25 times already.
Strange circus is an asian horror that will mess u up.
The Poughkeepe Tapes
A’Interiour (Inside)
Raw
I watched “the invitation” more than once. It was a good movie
transportation hang finding hire lightly wonder steady lack bathroom salad honey.
i watched the sacrament and i was reminded of the jonestown massacre.
I could not sit through The Invitation once because it was very boring.
Irreversible was the hardest movie to watch… EVER! Not only the 8 minute rape scene, but the un-cut smashing of the head with the fire extinguisher in the underground club. Perhaps not a horror film, but definitely horrific! And yes, A Serbian Film was even worse than Irreversible.
"Audition" is a classic! The Japanese are the undisputed masters of horror.
Mild
Since A Serbian Film dominates the comments I won't mention it further. More films include Man Bites Dog, Irreversible, AntiChrist, Cannibal Holocaust, Men Behind the Sun, Inside, The Girl Next Door. Some more tamer films that are tough to sit through, since some people probably couldn't make it through 10 minutes of the aforementioned films, would include Haute Tension, [REC], Eden Lake, Ils(Them), Jacobs Ladder. Honorable mention to one of the tougher movies to watch that I wouldn't call horror – Requiem for a Dream.
High Tension and Last House on the Left (1972) should of been on this list.
They are all comedies to me. Nothing has scared me for over 40 years. Do any for you know what scared is?
TBH Audition was pretty meh for me. Perhaps because the build up took so long that I just got bored of it, and when the torture finally happened… I literally went: that's it?? For real??
how about ‘Mother!’ by Darren Aronofsky ?
HATE CRIME, Entrails Of A Virgin, Ebola Syndrome, August Underground Trilogy, Visitor Q, Old Boy, Blood Pigs, Fetus, Bone Sickness, ATROZ, American Guinea Pig: Bouquet of Guts and Gore, American Guinea Pig: Bloodshock, Tumbling Doll of Flesh, Orozco The Embalmer, Visceral: Between The Ropes of Madness, and Aftermath.
The people at Looper are pussies if you think any film on this list doesn't warrant a second, third, or fourth watch lol. I have films in my collection that would probably ruin you for life.
WhoCares You mean the Sylvia Likens case, I remember hearing about that when both The Girl Next Door and An American Crime (both based on the murder of Sylvia Likens) came out the same year and it's been stuck in my mind ever since. Both those movies were difficult to watch especially The Girl Next Door, but the real case was even more horrific.
I habent seen the list yet but Martyrs i will never watch again NEVER!
I've actually had to do a few projects and speeches about the Jamestown Massacre. I should really watch The Sacrament. I wonder if they actually used the quotes from the Cult leader, because the whole thing was audio recorded. The line "I tried, god knows I tried" is actually a quote from him I believe so it might be interesting to see how it lines up.
the chick in audition is cute tho
I own the audition on DVD and still haven't watched it all the way through.
A Serbian Film, Cannibal Holocaust, The Human Centipede, Salo, Irreversible and, for an entirely different reason, The Orphanage.
Any human centipede movie, hard candy, last house on the left, and any of the saw movies!
