I love this game. My brother has the original. When I saw the remake I had to buy it. They do have a setting in the app where you can use the original sound effects.
Great review! I grew up with one sister and have fond memories of playing the original boardgame version of this. We only ever played it as a cooperative game and we always squealed over excitement when the thief broke glass or got on the subway. We are a boardgame family but live thousands of miles from each other. When we get together for the holidays, We play a lot of games. I had been debating on buying the original version, but ran across your review and I am very excited to try this digital version. My sister and I both have two daughters ourselves and I have wanted to surprise my sister as well as introduce it to my girls and my nieces trip create the same memories. Your view has given me the confidence to move forward with the plan and now that it is done through an app, I’m sure we will be creating a new generation of fans. I too will look forward to the updated features of one versus many. I imagine grandpa will be the thief as the rest of his granddaughters chase him Thanks again! Excited to subscribe and see what else you guys have to say about other games we have not tried yet.
Another great review guys, cheers.
Thanks for the review. I love the idea of utilizing an app. Makes me think of what euro style games would be with the option of tablet app player boards to track resources.
Thanks for the review, guys. David, I want to see your list!
Love the artwork of this game. Also seems comparable to Burgle Bros or Last Friday – any thoughts one way or the other? That said, Letters from Whitechapel and Fury of Dracula both spoiled me – a number of one vs many games designed since have paled in comparison. But I like that the theme seems to have a bit more levity in this game…
Great to see a repmake of this old classic! I owned the orignal back in the early 80s, and as I recall there were some diffenences to the new version:
– There was a button/option where you could get a recap of a number of clues played back to you, played fast as a recall it.
– If you made an arrest and it was correct, sometimes the thief fled and a set of clues were played along the way he was fleeing.
– I dont remember that you knew which of the four buildings the first alarm came from, meaning that the theif could be anywere on the board (on a red number) But maybe I remember wrong 🙂 Haven't played this since the mid 80s so….
Thanks. I kickstarted this one and am looking forward to a fun family game. Looking forward to the 1 vs many as well.
