You can say what you want about Planet Fitness but the bottom line is they are a luxurious fitness center with the latest state of the art equipment and you get it all for $10 a month ($17 a month average when you factor in taxes and fees). The black card membership is virtually worthless unless you like to tan constantly (tanning beds and massage beds are the only thing this big time “spa” offers and it is a hassle to operate and use them) or if you have someone you want to bring with you most of the time under the free unlimited guest pass or if for some reason you actually need access to more than one location. Complaining about the lack of free weights is borderline nonsense because the machines they have are far superior to free weights 99% of the time and they go to way more than most people will ever be able to lift on any exercise. On top of that free weights are somewhat obsolete anyway with devices like the Vitruvian and MaxPro completely eliminating the need for free weights altogether even for home use and with Hammer Strength brilliantly incorporating selectorized stack weights in their line of machines now the days of hassling with bars and plates are over. So who I ask in their right mind would complain about that? So you can go to Planet Fitness or you can throw your money away spending twice as much at a local one horse gym that has cheap and outdated equipment and limited space. Or you can just “workout at home” which basically means you are not going to workout. Those are your choices America! Nick

This is, without a doubt, the biggest joke in fitness. Everyone knows this. The is unfortunate. Folks with the real need to work out are not helped here at all.
@TreStyles16 May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
They shamed me for using too many weights. As a woman. told me I should workout somewhere else. When two men were aggressive towards me. Super classy.

I freaking love my PF! Best part is that no one bothers anyone! People are there to workout, not to socialize. I preferred the old equipment before they “upgraded.” Now, there is always something out-of-order. Still, there is plenty to do to keep busy while waiting for available machines.

Planet Fitness is great. It’s better for those that are older, starting off, or like the basic exercise, which is 75% of what people do.
@user-ts4fo9ol9x May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
Planet Fitness is great for women like finding guys in the lady's changing and restrooms.
@MuzicTunes-lk6np May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
Plus, side; many locations across the country, low payments, 24 hours, & if you're homeless, it's a good place to shower, shave & use the restroom 🚻. 😊 👍

@orion3706 May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
I went into my local Planet Fitness to buy a 10.00 membership. I was reading the membership requirements terms and conditions. The worker behind the counter took the e-pad while I was reading it and wouldn't let me finish. Then he told me they wanted my bank account and routing number. I tried to give my debit card number. He said they needed my bank account and routing number. I said "So you need access to my checking account? He said yes and that it was policy. I walked out. I've never been the fittest person, but two red flags was enough for me to leave.
@moneyguy2008 May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
Well, whatever. I have a PF membership and I like it. I don't lift weights very often. Here's the reason: I find that if I lift weights too intensely, my muscles will be sore for several days afterward. I'd like to know how to minimize the soreness and recover better. I have heard of S.A.R.M.S. Maybe that would help. Plus, I'll be 50 next month and I just don't recover the way I used to after lifting weights.
@Cheex79 May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
I never had an issue with them. I started with them and joined a different second gym for the additional machines. I still have PF in case i need a late workout or if im in another city. So they always come thru. And if you know how to work out then you will figure it out. I think every gym wants your money lol.
@Brads_handle May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
I’ve seen absolute monsters in PF. Plenty of ways to build muscle, there.

Yes it’s limited compared to Gold’s, but you can still bench or squat 500lbs if that’s your thing.
Leg press is limited. Dumb bells cut off too soon…. all true, but you don’t have to eat their trash food or go light on the workout

And they’re everywhere. So for $10 it’s a good back up gym membership if you travel around for work a lot

I’m a contractor. I work in three different states. There’s always one nearby.
@noelramirez1551 May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
Idk why people complain about PF its obviously a place people go to loose weight not bulk up meatheads just want to complain about everything
@Dog-advisor May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm

@SlXkxmx May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
LOLLLL all of these comments supporting PF and people liking them… Clearly, this isn’t a bunch of paid for comments and like from PF

This is a clown video. 🙄🐵👎
@aethylwulfeiii6502 May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
The only gym cardio equipment worth using is…. A swimming pool.
@TLW369 May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
Here’s the thing:

Planet Fitness is only a “shit” gym if you participate in the gym “fuckery” and you don’t know what your body transformation goals are.

For those of us who know how we want to look, it’s a decent gym and we’re actually winning in terms of transforming our bodies (myself included). ❤️

I joined planet fitness in Australia about 3 months ago. I watched your video, and what you describe is not my experience at all. In fact, it is quite the opposite. Perhaps things run differently in the US, and people treat people differently too, but what you described is not what I see here in Australia.

1) No results: Staff were friendly, and quite helpful, as were other patrons. I did not feel judged, and have not judged anyone else. I attend every 2nd day, and in 3 months because I train to near failure on each set, there are of course gains. I started with a PB bench press of 50kg, and can now press 75kg. That is a substantial gain. It is not just about the equipment, you need to actually put in the effort. Multiple sets of each exercise to near failure will see gains no matter the gym you go to, or if you train at home. Effort = gains.
2) Cardio: there is certainly a lot of cardio equipment, but more than half the equipment is not cardio, cardio made up about 1/4 to 1/3. The rest is weights and resistance equipment. There is a circuit, and the “club” part too.
3) Cost: we pay fortnightly and there are no lock-in contracts. My first visit was free of any charges and I was allowed to try anything and stay as long as I liked. I can pay $5 a week for myself (no “club” benefits) or $10 (where I can take any friend each time and have access to the “club” benefits). There is an annual fee of $39, and a transaction fee of $2 a fortnight. Those are the total costs which are all upfront and nothing is hidden. I can opt-out at any time. I do the $10 a week so I can take my child who is 14 and cannot otherwise have a membership. In effect, I pay $611 per year for myself and my child – he is seeing real gains too and it is great for his confidence.
4) The club: The “health club” part is there, but if you only want to pay $5 a week, you don’t have to use it – you don’t have to use the cardio equipment either. If you don’t want the extra bits, don’t pay for that part of it.
5) Pizza: Yep, the pizza night was a bit of a surprise. I’m not really interested.

I thought it was a bit odd when you said other companies cant compete because it is so cheap, yet complained about the costs. At the end of the day, the gym is only part of the equation for building fitness, losing weight, or building muscle. The work needs to be done by the person who attends. I met a fellow patron who in the last 6 months usually attends 6 days a week and has lost 40kg in weight (he was well over 120kg when he started). He looks great and praises the gym for his results - the reality is he put in the effort, the gym just gave him the equipment to do it.

Perhaps things are different in the US, but here, they seem to work really well.

Ayden manager from mount Vernon. Illinois followed me and told my husband can’t wear jeans and stares at us all the time !
But they won’t give my money back which comes to $81.00
And won’t return our money and he told me fuck you on the phone this morning!!!
What kind of smart ass person you hire!
So where is my money !!!!?!?
I want it now or we will go to the state’s attorney if I don’t get the money!!

You sound bitter. 😂
@gglez6892 May 11, 2024 - 2:27 pm
Planet fitness is definitely not encouraging you to do more cardio than muscular training. Yes, they have less equipment for the latter, but everyone has a different objective. Not everyone is interested in doing muscular strength and endurance training. And cardio along with healthy food habits, will get you away from obesity. Any kind of exercise is encouraged by health organizations. So, don't make it seem that no strength training is useless. It is ideal, but not strictly necessary.
