This movie is overrated and the story is terrible. Doesn't deserve 4 "Oscars". The poor are the master con-artists, who know every steps which the rich and gullible family will make. This movie made me cringe more than Jack and Jill.

09:54 - wait, are you criticising ranking countries as democratic? Shall I remind you what's on the other side of this scale?

The saddest part was when the new maid (Ms. Kim) and the former maid were looking down on each other in that basement situation but it never occurred to them to at least view the system that was imposed on them for what it is. Just keep your head down and keep fighting each other in the space they were allowed in. That part was depressing.

The ending is tragic. The poor fight each other to maintain their place as servants to the rich, and the son, after all this, still thinks the only way he can save his father is by becoming another member of the ruling elite of society, something he can never do.

Giving a sociological explanation for how bad smells aren't actually repulsive is a ludicrous pitch on a good day. The clip you chose to open the video shows Ki-taek opening his window to bathe his home, his family, and the pizza boxes he's paid to fold with a harmful pesticide, bathing them in stink. In the next scene of the film, they're told that 1/4 of the pizza boxes are not useable, strongly implying that Ki-taek cannot fold them properly. Parasite is a "comedy of errors", thrilling the audience by teetering its protagonists on the brink of sudden failure, and Ki-taek is the primary perpetrator. He constantly drags his clever family down to his level. His son goes from a master conspirator, someone so competent that we're convinced he can easily climb the economic ladder you spend most of the video claiming doesn't exist, to a desperate brute with a rock. Ki-woo needing 564 years to buy the house, again, because of his father's stupidity, is an extremely manipulative figure based on this formerly-brilliant sadist folding pizza boxes for the rest of his life. The poor father is parasitic of the poor son.

Why parasite should terrify us?
@KMM-br1ny April 28, 2024 - 2:49 pm
The only real thing was the girl carrying a bloody Kevin on her back as her own dad let Jessica die for no reason before he got killed by the poor dad. It’s because the girl loves Kevin.

It’s not about capitalism it’s bout good and evil and love for our neighbor

I've personally never seen this film as profound, it's saying what everyone does about wealth disparity, all the characters are underdeveloped archetypes to make a point (which makes for weak writing imo). He "lives BENEATH the Parks physically?". The smell thing is not remarkable either, it's a literal common experience when you live in any city with a homeless population to witness.

the happy ending would be the Dad punching the rich dad's nose and take the keys and threaten the rich dad to drive them to the hospital. Screw theme and catharsis. and fuck Mary Douglas post modernism b.s

stop selling caucasian-centristic concept about asians. as my experience prevails, in many areas of far-east asia those with lighter were considered superior for centuries before europeans even came. this exact day china does it, korea does it, vietnam does it. sorry, but it is true and prejudise existed long before we made the word to categorise this.
ask disney, they know. they intentionally take off people of color from the posters simply to cater to chinese tastes.

I honestly was expecting the mom to slip up and ruin everything but the dad did it instead, Mr park's daughter has it the roughest; imagine the guy you like is beaten them instead of killing the guy who did that t him he kills her father.

I can see how someone without some knowledges can view the family as the parasites but that happening in most cases should scare us, these things are concepts everyone should understand.
