Even Lucifer in the show of the same name, and Lucifer from Hazbin Hotel suffer from depression. In the first case, he goes for counseling, and it seems to help him.

Half of this list is just people saying they are fucked up, but you never really see them struggle with it in real time and face the consequences. The Aviator, Shameless, Love and Mercy, Rain Man, Little Miss Sunshine, Still Alice are better examples than many of these choices. You need to SEE what happens to the characters when their illnesses get the best of them.

Wow a "silent voice" is such a hidden gem, anime so undderated a silent voice really helped alot of people for me the best movie about this topic, i just dont like how comedy is in the same genre as depression its like sugarcoating the deppresion part

The most accurate depiction of depression anyways in media to me is tony soprano, mainly because the guy is objectively a bad person. And not in the oh i do some bad things but im mentally ill so i have an excuse kind of way, no the guy is a complete piece of shit and refuses to change despite having the inner desire to do so.

As someone who was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder, it would be great to see an actor with DID portray a character with DID. Instead we got media that portray harmful stigmas like Split, Moon Night, and Identity~

"Silver Linings Playbook" is a beautiful movie that really helped me and my mom understand my Bipolar disorder. Another one that helps me is "It's Kind of a Funny Story." It's about a boy struggling with depression who checks into a psychiatric hospital after wanting to kill himself, and it just shows how a teen (or adult) copes with being admitted, which I can relate to. It's a fantastic movie based off the novel of the same name (RIP Ned Vizzini). Both helped me so much because I have depression and I can relate to the subject matter covered. Definitely worth checking out, but can be triggering for some who struggle with depression, suicidal thoughts, isolation, and/or self harm to name a few…so watch with that in mind

Why isn't melancholia and perks of being a wallflower not mentioned here?

@spartjovic April 26, 2024 - 4:59 pm

Harvey in Suits having panic attacks was fairly accurate.

The thing that makes me the most angry about bipolar people is the denial, refusal to accept responsibility and blame shifting for destructive behavior. It is all too common and excused by society because "they are ill"

@jr5389 April 26, 2024 - 4:59 pm

@davida.7967 April 26, 2024 - 4:59 pm

@A---BMaitriSarkar April 26, 2024 - 4:59 pm

When I tell my family,how lonely I feel , I'm not okay,I don't have any friends or lover, they just say others have it worse,you have a better life,you have nothing to be depressed about. It's really hurts. Literally not a single soul understands me.

@jayantahirrao4659 April 26, 2024 - 4:59 pm

I'm the subject 😌
