Torque 3D is an open source MIT licensed C++ game engine originally used to create the Tribes 2 multiplayer shooter. The Others series is all about showcasing lesser known game engines.

These people are determined to make an engine that no one but themselves will ever want to use.
With every major version, they make it less and less comprehensible to use.
3.x was obtuse and confusing to use… but I could at least struggle my way through things.
With 4.x, forget it.
You can't even create new materials as "easily" (very relatively speaking there) as you could in 3.x.
I honestly don't know who they're developing this engine for anymore, other than themselves.
Perfect message AI
Now i know why the graphics in BeamNG are so dookie😂😂
I Love The 3D Internet Game Engines Torque3D and CopperCube 3D Because Their 3D Internet Game Development Tools and Menu Ingridients are All White in Color. Just Like Roblox's Game-Creation System Sometimes in Different Computers of Different People. Unlike Unreal Engine, Unity, Godot and GameMaker Studio 3D. Their 3D Internet Game Development Tools and Menu Ingridients are Black in Color. I Want it White in Color
My Favorite 3D Internet Game Engine Called "Torque 3D" is All Mostly Written in C. And Just a TINY Portion is Written C++ as its Runtime
I Actually Also Love The 3D Internet Game Engine Called "Torque 3D". The 3D Internet Game Engine Called "Torque 3D" All Mostly Written in C. But Just a TINY Portion is Written in C++ as its Runtime
Torque 3d is not actually a game engine, it is just a world editor
First time I heard about this engine was through BeamNG.
great video thank you!
I remember Torque, they started it but it was a nightmare getting characters, and animation in the scene. It was painful and made me look elsewhere, until I found Unity which at the time was Mac only. Eventually a pc version was released and I have used it ever since. My oppionon obviously I'm sure others thought it was wonderful. Hats off to those that used it to its fullest.
I was interested in Torque engine up until you said you have to use torque script and not C++. I can do C++ but don't want to learn another language other than C++
Marble blast ultra was my LIFE when I was little <3
Awsome you show this Engine to public with love 😀 i wish some of torque stuff whas defauløt in other engines like the River&Road tool 😀
So tribes was made with this…
Very cool video. Makes me nostalgic. Sadly Torque is really showing its age. Although it is crazy that we still have the Tribes engine around and maintained. Godot is become the defacto open source engine.
Nice video! I see you have tried so many engines… Could you tell me wich one would YOU use if you were going to start tomorrow a new 2D platformer and wich one would you use for a 3D indie game? (could be the same engine)
Cool game engine! I like it how easy it is! can you make a video about Game Studio game engine? it's discontinued but it was my very first game engine! 😀 http://www.3dgamestudio.com/
Check out RPG Paper Maker. It's kinda like RPG Maker, but for 2.5d RPGs (think Mode7). It also can use simple 3d models. And it's free for non-commercial content ($30 if you want to sell your game).
Source engine?
This series is excellent, please continue it
Beam.NG Drive is also made in torque and is a very amazing game.
The scripting language of the Torque 3D? C++ or something else?
Just curious.
Do V-Play engine in the others series.
the actual modding ability of this engine is awesome. I remember making mods for a pretty obscure game made using this engine like 10 years ago. The scripting language is super easy to learn, you just need to make a server.cs file in a zip folder, then drag it in the addons folder and it works. The game is pretty inactive right now yet there are still people making mods for it, that's how awesome it is. It's a shame the scripting language is pretty slow just due to the engine's age, and it has quite a lot of limitations.
Isn't Game Maker used like, a lot more than godot? shouldn't it be considered a "big 3"
Remind me of Farcry map editor
