he actually replied to a tweet giving a better detail on what the game is. A classic style Roguelike combined with a First person Dungeon Crawler.

"Current plan is roguelike (in the old sense. cursed items, ridiculously broken mechanics and so on) combined with a first person dungeon crawler, but we'll see where this vague direction takes it."

3:44 gold is not stronger than diamond, It's just different. Gold is a very heavy but soft and malleable metal, so much so that you can easily imprint your teeth if you bite pure gold, so it's a terrible material for making something like a pickaxe, an axe, sword, etc.
Diamond meanwhile is extremelly hard but very brittle and light, so doesn't make for good tools or weapons either.
I guess diamond would make for good bulletproof glass maybe but probably suck in terms of actual armor. It would def suck in terms of tools and weapons tho.

NGL kinda annoyed at the tweet that is saying like "oh this game won't be the next big thing." like ofc not. Minecraft was not made with ambitions like that, he just wanted to make a fun game and it ended up going big. I feel like unintentionally he'll still make a hit.

Honestly, with the current state of gaming being that triple a studios are focused on monetization making lackluster games as a result, and indie games being well-received because the developers did whatever they wanted to make the game fun, I think notch is doing the right thing by just making a small title without trying to revolutionize anything.

His new game won't cause a stir in the gaming workd and it doesn't need to. It'll probably just be "a surprise to be sure, but a welcome one."
