I would love to see a tutorial on your version of this
nice to hear an experts opinion… but its kinda like Transformers the movie 1986… there are so many animation errors that i can see NOW… but as a 10 year old.. i was just blown away i didnt see any errors at all… this game makes me feel 10 again
It's not too real. If you don't like it then don't play it. It's rated m for a reason. Wimps.
The Unreal 5 is so Real it's Unreal!
XD
You could try, create that short 60s story, but only problem you can't interrupt/hijack that samsung process and you have to find how to do it again, which you would do with dongles and usb wires and different devices. Strap that camera to grass cutter harness, because that's easy euros to waste on a phone and on go pro. This is some stuttering problem for 720p50fps video, because battle toads is some hardcore gamer play doing everything again on game over until that place where you fail again. This texture is in the maps 4:52, but there is no point to do that 3D view on ten meters buildings or if that city is not some world economy capital so maybe you see it playing watch dogs, all the hack the street light and road block please.
It's OK, it's OK. Real life is just Unreal Engine 99!
all I'm hearing here is jealousy
Not realistic enough
well too much real life like but meh we are going modding backwards compatible to be retro classic from 3rd 4th or 5th or probably 6th gen like with low poly mods. if the current gen is backwards compatible mod on PC windows and mac os and linux. except consoles such as Nintendo switch models PlayStation and some xbox.
Te quiero mucho The Cherno, ❤ eres muy genial 😅. Me encanta tu curso de C++ es impresionante 🎉.
As an Unreal developer I can tell you, it's half fake. It's a photoscanned environment map and he embedded a recording of himself moving through it. Basically a clever trick of mixing Unreal Engine environments with GoPro footage.
There is a reason why in his "proof" video, he turned off and hid every information that would give away that this is nothing but a pre-recorded scene, and didn't show anything like the wireframe view or the actors used in the level.
While it looks amazing, it's not going to become a real game because first, it would be way too performance costly and second, the filesize of the game would go into the hundreds of gigabites. This is a cool techdemo though and got people fooled pretty good.
Do it 7:12
The key to perfection is imperfection.
ffs seems like youre hating on it a bit
Every time bro said he was gonna just unpause the video and watch it he immediately paused it again 😭😭😭
max payne used photographed textures in a really cool way that i think not enough developers do these days. it doesn't have to be really high end graphics with that grimey city vibe.
We need to make 1:1 realistic graphics so we can traumatize an entire generation of weak minded leftist mongs who think we need to cotton wool society.
It is fake, look at he end.
12:09 – its because the scene has bloom but bloom isnt shown in the reflection because reflections dont work with emissive materials.
This just proves that not everything is about HD, 8k is too much, we should stop from here 🙂 This is the most realistic game you will ever feel, if you will be in that situation, you will not really check all the details of your environment, your focus is just to kill the enemy… You don't really care how the ground looks, or how the reflection looks, this just captures how a human's eye realistically behaves in a situation like this.
The shaky camera works well on a promo vid like this, but imagine playing with it! Not sure it would be playable.
its a very important take actually
games looking so real make kids lose the perception of fiction and reality
Psychologically watching or doing the killing of a real person in real life will be far easier to digest if you have been actually involved in doing the same act in photorealistic game
Watching a movie is different because it is not as immersive. Everyone is too busy criticizing the fact that no one dies in the gunfight scene and how a real event is not like how it is in movies.
And the fact why tv news heavily censor or even removing the scene of shooting and death of person even when they have the clip is telltale how you differentiate reality and fiction.
But adding a photorealistic game where the player is in control is a totally different dimension and add complexity to this issue. Add Virtual Reality and that will be a complete disaster to the young minds.
I don't understand this concept of "too realistic" . It wouldn't be too realistic even if it was as good a quality as a star trek Holodeck. It would be just right.
Kind of random, sort of related, but I remember nearly 20 years ago my sister was watching me play Half-life 2. She recorded a bit of it on her old-school digital camera. I was blown away by how much more real it looked watching it on the camera vs the actual game. Something about the lack of detail somehow made it more convincing. I've seen games try to replicate this, like the film grain effect, but it's just not the same.
I get it, it COULD have been done before and the resources have been around to do so. Got it. But, nobody has done it until now. So that alone is impressive.
While I personally don't care much for realism in games, those blue checkmarks complaining on Twitter are just moral policing without any real argument besides "it makes me uncomfortable". We've had pretty realistic (and very violent) games for years, and there is no evidence that playing these games will make someone more likely to commit violent crime.
imagine this gameplay in a horror game w/o the gun
Too real? Half Life Alyx was too real.
The bigger problem of this game is the fact that many people will get headaches or feel sick from the camera movement.
They record the whole scene, then UNRECORD it into UE5.
So many people thinking this is not a game and just a video with hands overlay is fuking ridiculous… I can't….
it's strange to hear, especially from a game dev, that a realistic game might be a problem. Till now, I thought that the whole point in game development was to make the most realistic graphics.
Great reaction. I don't write games but I've been writing software for living for last 20 years and I agree with pretty much everything you said here. I was a bit surprised that you didn't comment the flashlight effect more. For my eyes, that was the absolutely least realistic part of this demo.
I agree that it was probably photogrammetry and I don't know if they actually had setup where you take multiple photos with separate lights for *every shot*, you can compute true surface color per pixel and pretty good approximation of albedo.
it looks hilarious when youtube auto-detects half life 2 in it
Bro u can't just pause n watch frame by frame,it's a game bdw and of course first of its kind so instead of being too judgy,we should be a bit supportive… ✌️ Peace
I'd probably die of motion sickness 30 seconds into this 😀
Is motion blur actually a thing people perceive IRL? Or did humanity collectively spend enough time watching cable TV to evolve 24fps eyes?
Sadly, it wasn't all that realistic to me. Maybe I'm too critical but there wasn't any crouching, and what's with this barreling around corners and obstuctions? In a real situation, esp if you are solo, there could be an enemy hiding in any of that debri, behind doors, and other junk. I'd be crouching and going very slowly, clearing each obstacle before advancing. One mistake and you're dead.
Good to see someone actually critiquing the game unlike everyone else. Game looks unbelievable but thanks for telling us that were kinda overreacting as a game dev u Kno that this is possible lol we don't
omg just watch the trailer and shut up, you stop the video every milisecond, plus clearly you watched before recording this,
Is the Game any good though?
Thought the exact same thing, a lot of things seemed to need more work on compared to how the opening scene was executed.
Regarding people complaining about realistic violence causing real violence – I'm sorry, but humans are violent. It's in our DNA. We evolved on a planet that required killing to survive, and now it is part of us. It likely always will be. These people who snap and go on actual rampages may have benefited from a safe outlet. If you've ever had fun mowing down AI characters relentlessly, yet could never imagine yourself walking outside and hurting real people, then you already have all of the evidence you need to dismiss this ridiculous idea. Some people become unhinged and do unimaginable things, but its certainly not because they played a violent videogame. Those seeds are being planted by something much worse than videogames. But as far as realism goes, I can take it or leave it. Sadly, the more real things look, the more strict the player's "immersion judge" becomes, and the easier it is to fall out of that immersion. On top of that, every level of realism you add reduces the flexibility on what you can do (as a designer of worlds, and things).
I remember when Half-life 2's first footage was revealed and we were all blown away by the first photorealistic materials. Max Payne had used photogrammetry for its textures but there was no shaders back then and material all look matt but what the Source engine had done with HL2 and its advanced shaders and HDR was even more impressive than this for the time
there's an interview of one of the developpers in the french twitch show "popcorn", i hope it gets translated because it's really interresting, those two guys are really invested in their game
It's not a game, it's a very simple tech demo using free UE store assets, the camera and independent head and aim movement is really the only actual unique element but requires no skill to reproduce.
This is more than likely a scam that is happening to a french rapper who has decided to fund this project after seeing the dev's previous tech demo from a year ago, which is the identical environment and style to this video.
Be aware, this is nothing new, impressive, or innovative. It's deceptive with it's camera shake, wide lens, film grain, low bitrate upload, and use of inherent UE5 technologies.
You can recreate this tech demo in a few hours yourself with no game development experience. All the assets being used are free (except the map which has now been taken down and reuploaded at a now $60 price).
Do not give this scammer dev any money.
you are the type of person and hear a beatles song and say, "i can make this song on my mac, it really isnt that hard. i guess the video may show their talent more. but its a great song, just made on old equipment." bruh get over yourself, they had the idea and execution, which you have yet to show.
Dude it takes like 10 min for you to just Watch 5sec.. talk Way to much
these people on twitter basically wanting goverments to be more CHina and moderate and regulate everything….
so you basically saw it and said "no big deal, just photogrammetry". which is quite of a vague perspective tbf
