Let’s talk about PlayStation leveling system, how it works and why should you care about it.

Sony changed their trophy leveling system in late 2020 with a launch of PS5 and changed how levels are represented and the amount of points you get for platinum trophy from 180 to 300.

In this video I will give a full break down on how PlayStation trophies work, level progression systems, why you should become a trophy hunter and why trophy hunting is even a thing.

I always start put with the idea that I will make the 100% but I gave it up cause I noticed I can’t enjoy the game-play any more as I‘d like to. I don’t know if I can call myself a gamer then. And I always just like to enjoy the game and especially the stories and easter eggs.. but it all comes down to „play it for the story.“ trophy hunting won’t be something I can get convinced by🤷🏻‍♀️

Trophies aren’t as interesting that achievements are. For me anyway. When I log on to my Xbox dashboard I can see straight away I have 116,000 achievements. On the PS the trophy count is not on the dashboard. For that reason I don’t find it them that essential. And now you’ve told me that the level gets harder and harder to raise, even less so.

I just bought ps5 and after 20 days i have my first 5 platinums. Can say its more addictive than pc idk it just tickles my brain when platinum pops. Anywho i kinda hate the thing that u mentioned leaderboards.. nobody in those are "legit". Those players play that 5 minute games that gives you platinum. In reality you will be happy for what.. 400 platinums? which would place you in bottom of those leaderboards :D i wish they would count only normal games.

Honestly I started trophy hunting out a competition cause someone on my friends list had platinum's in a lot of games I thoroughly enjoyed! So I decided to try getting one myself and the next thing I knew, I kept doing it in other games.

I only do it for games that I have a real like for, so I won't just plat every game out of necessity , but it's been a lot of fun and gives me more time with single players after I finished the story. It makes me feel I really got to fully enjoy the world the developers put out there for me.

i like upgrade my skills and getting all the collectables in a game more then trophy hunting tbh also u find hidden areas that most players wood uselly otherwise miss in their playthos of the game

Hey, I know it's a bit late. But I've been stuck on level 208 (80%) for like 3 months and I'm wondering if that is a bug or if it's just rlly tedious. (I've gotten like 20 trophies but it still hasn't moved)

I quit because of the collecting, those are the worst. I was early dude think the first game to have trophies come with it with no update was resistance 2, then I did RE5, then infamous then GOW1-2. After that I was tired of that shit lol like collecting really kills it for me, useless ones like gow your collectibles added health or magic like the gorgan eyes. But then there’s say infamous, where you have to collect 100 shards. Why? For what reason? So I can blown my brains out for no reason? I sometimes get tempted to go back like gow 4 I’m at 82% but then I see collectibles that don’t add any thing. I could probably do MKX-mk1 if I really wanted to only thing I’m missing is like doing a fatality with everyone or playing everyone on every stage type shit.

I also have a very weird issue, I don’t know when but at some point The Trophy’s and new Games that I played Wont show up on my Psn profile anymore only a few Ones Which is super annoying cos I got trophy’s on some games but it doesn’t even show that I played the game on my profile… does anyone know why That is? (On ps4)

I read an article today, that Xbox is looking to do this. I wanted to see what PlayStation trophies we’re all about and how they worked.

from the Xbox side of things I like achievement hunting because it’s a good challenge I can only imagine trophy hunting . 😊 thank you for this video.

I think the reason they won't bring back rewards systems for trophy collections is because of the cheaters and stackers. They take all meaning and fun out of this exercise.

With Elden ring and blood-borne platinum's under my belt it just shows how dedicated you are to the game. With 55 platinum's in all I'm trying to platinum demon souls for the PS5. Trophies encourage you to play through the entire game see everything the game has to offer or encourage you to play the game in ways you never thought you could

I played Xbox for years and accumulated around 355,000 gamerscore. I’ve been collecting trophies on PlayStation now for 2yrs and im at lvl 280 so far.

Its stupid system. Noob with pasive playing of many games have higher level than very good player which have some games at platinum. Platinum trophy should have least 1000 pts.

As a many years PC player I must admit your (PS players) achiements/trophies are very appealing.
Too bad Steam’s isn’t a thing… and also even the pop up of the achievement on PS is very satisfying.
I’m on PC messing around with the streaming service and can’t get my mind to decide if I wanna do the jump to the PS world.

Trophy hunting might be tedious, but getting that gold trophy that took you 20-30 hours is rewarding and don’t get me started on plat trophy, it’s almost like it relieves me of a life long burden that plat trophy

There’s that new trend of trophy games on psn that literally give your free platinums, I seen some of the top players on psn profiles buy these cheap garbage throwaway games(I wouldn’t even call them games) that give you free trophies it’s pathetic.

I'm an Amateur ps4 player as of now i only have 1,255 trophies (mostly bronze)

Thanks for the explanation. I wanted to know how long it would take me to go from silver status to gold status. And it looks like I have a LONG way to go ! That slope gets steep! I love trophies that encourage to me try everything that the game has to offer. Such as using all the weapons or skills in a game or completing all the side missions. These trophies are really positive and make you appreciate a game more. I find it crazy when developers add trophies that make a game really unpleasant to play - like a trophy for playing the whole game using the worst control scheme. I find collectables a little boring and my heart sinks if I start a game and discover there are 500 to 1200 collectables. You know you are going to finish the game and you will have one collectable missing.

On the xbox 360 you had avatars and you could get avatar items as rewards sometimes from completing a game along with the achievement. So for example portal 2 I think you got a t-shirt and a baseball cap for your avatar as rewards. I thought that was a great way of rewarding players that completed a game. In steam you can earn badges and you can display a few favorite badges on your account profile. These simple digital rewards are unique to the game and really fun. I would love Sony to add digital rewards like this. With PSVR2 and big companies interested in the metaverse, it may be a good time for Sony to introduce avatars. And it would be really cool if we could get a simple avatar T shirt or hat for each platinum or 100% we had.

Me and my friend are both battling to have the highest trophy level… I have a level of 215 with 6 platinums and he is 209 with 2 platinums

I didn't really care about trophies on PS4 but now that I finally got a PS5 it's like been my priority now. The only thing that bugs me is some games (apex legends) have trophies that require you to purchase dlc in order to get the trophy which I feel is wrong. I know you can argue I got the game for free and got the other trophies but still, the base game has 6 characters and for one trophy you need to deal a certain amount of damage with 8 characters.

For me, seeing the 100% sign after 100% completing games is why I complete games in its entiety.
With trophy hunting, getting every single trophy the game has to offer(including ones that don't work towards a platinum(DLC)) brings about the same satisfaction! And like you said, the trophies can challenge you to play the game in a new way or find an Easter egg that is not part of the base games 'completion' e.g.in Spider-Man:Miles Morales, if your completing all trophies, there is a trophy that requires you to pay respects to a statue of Stan Lee but if you were just getting all the collectibles than you most likely would have missed it 😬

I trophy hunt because it is fun to level up and, like you said, you experience the game in different ways. As for rewards, how hard would it be for Sony to develop free pixel items that we can purchase with rewards won from trophies. Steam sells things like this such as avatar backgrounds so it seems like a win-win.

the problem with PC trophy hunting is that there are a ton of "burner" games on steam, which literally just opening the game gives you 1000achievements right of the bat. its called machine hunt. there are a bunch of games like that. Its pretty sad, but hey what can you do.

Personally I think trophy hunting is one of the biggest motivators to play a game

It’s really dumb they removed PSN Rewards, I started researching about after learning that Xbox already has it :(
