#DOAG . Death of a Game is a series dedicated to uncovering the mysteries surrounding the death of a game or company. nerdSlayer defines the term “death” in the context of the show as either… 1. Literally dead. 2. Had a mass exodus of players and never recovered (expectations etc). 3. The company ceased to exist. We follow a timeline of events, to uncover clues concerning why a game or company doesn’t do well, and attempt to put it all together at the end for a deduction explaining how or why the game failed based on the evidence gathered.

Rules:
1: No discrimination or hate speech.
2: No affiliation links that do not belong to nerdSlayer.
3: No political/religious talk or debate .
4: Any points you make have to be substantiated either in explaining your opinion or when stating facts you need to back these up with reliable sources.
5: Do not argue moderation decisions in public, if you have an issue PM the mods.
6: We don’t allow self promotion, giveaways or anything of similar nature from community members on this discord without nerdSlayer’s permission.
7: Wherever possible if you initiate a discussion try to do so in an appropriate channel for it. For example game news could go in ⁠game-table a story on the latest EVE heist however would belong in ⁠mmo-booth or the latest GPU shortage can go in ⁠tech-wizards
8: Spoilers have to be marked at all times as a spoiler by using /spoiler or || before and after the message. Beside this outside of the spoiler you should make clear ahead of it what the spoiler is about, like the latest chapter in a video game or something.
9: Please do not @ mention any of the staff or in general abuse @ mentions. People will respond on their own accord when needed and when they desire to do so. (Exception for moderators if their presence is needed for enforcement)

People should just buy it to support 3rd person/1st person moba games. These games are rare gems. A very small genre that is very good.

I never played the original and hopping into this has been a blast! Only complaint is the 60fps cap. In a fast paced team shooter, having only 60fps feels really bad. I hope they can unlock the frame rate at some point down the line

I give it 1-2 month until it dies again, game is fine but not a strong challenger to the two goats dota and league, not even paladins

They fumbled, I don't get how we still have servers issues with such a small playerbase, also 60 fps lock is crazy on a competitive game

I loved this game in its previous iteration. But I was so bad at it. Hahaha.
Still, I am glad to see it back and will get it. Maybe I can convince some friends to get it too and we can suck together.

I know we want to call it a moba lol its just cuz it has small elements... for new players its nothing like league or smite. If you thought that its a strong no sir... honestly feel like overwatch players could have interest possibly. No moba players will be here.

I'd never even heard of Gigantic until it was already shut down. A friend who was a huge fan told me a lot about it, and made me regret missing it, since it was the first game I'd heard about in ages that sounded like it had a chance of recapturing the experience I had playing Super Monday Night Combat. I picked it up on relaunch day in memory of that friend, and I'm totally addicted despite the server failures. It really is the most fun I've had in a multiplayer game since SMNC!

Also, now that I've gotten to play it, I have to ask why it's considered a MOBA. It doesn't have any MOBA elements in either mode, it's a capture point hero shooter. The gameplay loop could have been done as a special mode in Team Fortress 2...

Glad that it's coming back! But asking for people to buy the game, in the age of LoL, Smite and DotA, and hero shooters like Overwatch2 and Paladins being free to play, just seems silly and a recipe for disaster. I hope they are not setting themselves up for failure.

I’ve always regretted never trying Gigantic when it first came out. I’m glad it’s come back and I’ve had lots of fun with it already. I hope they’ll succeed with this second chance.

I remember enjoyed this game back it the day, it was very fun ! but at the time Many like MANY game opened and closed very fast !

sadly i think its already dead again.

all time peak at only 5k, pay to play model, which i dont have an issue with, but does inhibit growth, and populations dont tend to rise overtime. Small player base in games like this also tend to just be filled with the series most dedicated fans, which will make it much more unpleasent for newcomers , as they will be destroyed in game, since the pop is really just to low to effectively matchmake.

while im not happy to say it, i really kidna doubt this has enough gas to stay around.
