Disney’s live-action remakes of its animated classics have become a box-office staple over the years. In order to make a photorealistic world of talking animals, “The Jungle Book” and “The Lion King” relied on innovative virtual production techniques.
“Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” made Angelina Jolie look like she was flying through the air, and “Mulan” used wire work to allow its heroes to do gravity-defying stunts. In “Aladdin,” Will Smith donned a motion-capture suit, which allowed the film to create the Genie with CGI while still giving the character the actor’s signature moves. And “Beauty and the Beast” built its sets from scratch whenever it could.

What 8 Disney Live-Action Remakes Looked Like Behind The Scenes | Movies Insider

Looks like a horrible work environment. Even Ian McKellen, a great actor, a Shakespearean play actor, a theatre actor, broke down on the set of The Hobbit trilogy. As he was having serious difficulty, due to all the scenes being shot in a totally green space and totally alone.
Look. Them making all of these movies with a combination of live action and cgi is definitely very impressive, that was never the question. The question is is this necessary to which the answer for a majority of these movies is NO. We did not need a shot for shot remake of the lion king but without all the life and joy. We didn’t need a new version of Mulan that removed all the best moments and characters and replaced them with a bunch of meh. We definitely didn’t need a live action Pinocchio doll that may or may not haunt my dreams, in a movie that removed the important lessons the character needed to learn in order to grow.
These movies have all been really impressive and some of them have even been really enjoyable to watch and added stuff that I really liked (Naomi Scott’s iconic “Speechless”) but none of the Renaissance remakes are ever going to top the originals. I’m never going to feel like watching Beauty and the Beast and choose the 2017 version instead of the 1991 classic. The only ones that actually manage to surpass the originals imo are the ones that are actually different and try to do something original; Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, Cinderella.
Everything Big is made from many Small thing's.

I’m looking forward to them going broke.
How did jungle book(2020) pave the way for lion king(2019) if jungle book came after lion king lmfao
Shame all this work only to be as soulless af
The little mermaid is in 2023????
This video just popped up for me, probably due to TLM. Lol!
My favorite live actions are “Maleficent” and now “The Little Mermaid”. Angelina and Halle were awesome!
i’ll go for Mulan ❤
The lion king should have been left tf alone
the real lion singing doesnt look good
My favorites: The little m. and Mulan
I wuld love to ware the dress from Beauty and the Beast.
Owo amazing 😊
I love Disney. Words cannot express my appreciation for them making magic and fantasy world in my life while watching. More than amazing. Awed by their wonderful extraordinary talents and work.
Everything was great until that violent disgusting will smith was on screen 🤮 He RUINED Aladdin for me.
I really really enjoyed the way they animated the animal's faces in the Junglebook Live Action version, it was the perfect mixture of realism and "cartoon" for me. I just wonder why the Lion King Live Action became so much worse as all the characters in there had very limited to barely any facial expressions. Why didn't they make it more like in the Jungle Book?
Thanks for showing me this.
RESPECT!
Angelina is to beautiful ❤❤❤ and yifei also breathtaking
I can't believe that they put in so much of hard work into making these films while we sit back and criticise it.
The lion king was so terrible
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I feel like my favorite will always be Aladdin because it stuck to everything in the cartoon and the little mermaid because it was beautiful
I feel they ruined Mulan I'm sorry nothing like the cartoon one
Make a part 2 and put little mermaid
yes maléfique j'adore.
en fransh no english love the king lion Disney thin you
Mulan was awful. They destroyed the original movie… stripped Mulan from all the qualities that made her so likable and admired and just gave her “super powers”… that one pissed me
Off
Arial is a bot
The shooting of Maleficent was really interesting for me!!
What about Christopher robin
I was really into Angelina in that one scene.
beauty and the beast.
everytime i see emma cry its break my heart, but i love her as a role
my favorite is sugondese
THE MULAN LIVE ACTION IS THE WORST ONE YOU CAN NEVER CHANGE MY MIND
they didn’t even put Muso ( idk how to spell it but it’s the red tiny dragon 🐉
I never really watched the originals of Disney, and when I did watch the original of mulan, after watching the remake, i found the remake better.
The lion king remake gives us really poor experience 😢
I feel tears comming up every time something reminds me of the OG Dumbo. This cartoon impacted me so much when I was a kid, and I'm afraid to watch the 2019 remake 'cause I don't wanna mess up my feelings for the OG cartoon…
Lion king is my favourite
Maleficent isn't a remake.
@06:26 you have no idea what you are talking about….. the people in blue suits are not "extras" which make minimum wage and have no acting talent or experience. The blue suits are professionally trained stunt performers, puppeteers , or prop masters . Please Get your story straight before reporting it. You seem to lack knowledge of how films are made other than watching dvd extras. Extras would never be in charge of an actor on a harness too much room for untrained error that could injure the actor
all that and they still failed
Erm… "Maleficent" is not a "remake", it's a new movie… you know "re" (again) "make" (do)… At most, you can call it "spin-off" or "sequel".
