Command and Conquer – HTML5 RTS Game – Progress update and Demo

This is a recreation of the original Command and Conquer, Real Time Strategy (RTS) game entirely in HTML5 and Javascript.

This is a demo of the new version I am working on, with more units, levels and multiplayer support.

Classic browser RTS gmaes feels like what browser gaming should go towards as I thought old school 3D platformers were supposed to be on Iphones and android for developers to get a basic start on something to later develop into bigger games on a console. Like a new IP or make the old game but bigger and improved for bigger consoles.

Wow! I just read on your blog how long it took you to do this and I am blown away! Excellent work! I don't think most people realize just how much work this is. You're one talented person. I was just thinking about coding my own RTS game in C, you've inspired me to follow through with it. It's my favourite genre of games. 2D graphics works best in my opinion. RA2 is by far most people's favourite. I always felt you could do a lot more on modern hardware with just 2D on a new RTS.

Lots of new features and two multiplayer levels are currently in beta.... Will be out in a few messages... PM me here or on the FB page for access to the beta....

Amazing work. Just a few suggestions. Following C&C to the letter is not a good option. What you should add is: 1. Rally point for construction buildings 2. Double clicking a unit selects all the units of the same type 3. You can queue up units in the build menu. 4. It is best that you make 5 infantry men with a single click 5. Finally, when you make air, let the units hover so that you do not need to make multiple pads for them to land

Hey, any updates coming soon? I have been way too excited since the last time i played it. :D I hope you are still updating it, because in the end you could make skirmish mode that is missing from the original game :)

Just wondering, why isn't this version up on github yet? I'd like to help contribute to the game but don't want to recode things that are already done etc. You should keep pushing the latest version to the repository so others like I can help out :)

@adityaravishankar Well I'm glad you were able to get around the limitations. You could always combine some of the minigunner sounds together, but I don't know if that would make the .wav files to big or not.

One thing that I hope is on your to do list is making it so you hear each minigunner shooting, not just one, also with tanks, etc..

@adityaravishankar Believe it or not, I have the official role of "Supreme Nitpicker" on the C&C3-to-C&C1 mod team :D (the mod's simply called "Tiberian Dawn")

Looking good! One small nitpick though - that infantry death scream you use is one that's normally exclusively used for 'burning to death'.

I`m planning to make a game with html5. Is it a generall problem of the language, that the game is so slow, and seems to lag a bit, or is it just cause this is an early version game? Or can you recommend any other programming language(except flash) to make an multiplayer-onlinegame, which allows a "living" game (sounds,animations, actuall free, not gridbased entitymovement,...).
