Like the updated version of Audio Technica’s Mister Disc turntable, I really hope Seiko releases a 1:1 identical version of the venerable 809.
Package/box should be an original one.
I have a 7.25" wrist but could still appreciate and opt for the smaller case for a watch I actually intended to use in the field or while working.
The original design of WWII field watch case size was 35mm to 38mm. WWII soldiers, especially in the European theater of war, wore long sleeved shirts and field jackets (has to be slim enough to go under the sleeves). Field watches were also designed to be simple with visible 1-12 Arabic numbers and for agility. There is a rule in design, "Form follows function." A US G.I. carried 60 lbs of equipment and a 10 lb. rifle. Not sure why anyone would want to make a big field watch. Unless of course, you want to hit your enemy with it. Technically, the SRPJ87, and SRPJ89 are pilot watches not field watches (outer dial had 60 minute markings by 5 min. increments).
What the band size of the beige one 18mm?
Man, if I could get one of these new for $150 it'd be on my wrist already!
Are all 5 watches from SRPJ series have matte finish case? Or only SRPJ83 and SRPJ85? On some videos SRPJ81 looks like its polished silver instead of matte.
First of all, thank you for taking the time and effort for making the video. I’m new to the watch world and bought the SRPJ89 (emerald green) to go with more dressed up clothing or a formal occasion. It is a smaller watch than I expected but absolutely love the refined, slim and stylish look of it. Great review! Kind regards from the Netherlands, Tom
One thing I love about this size is the inner circle aligns with the date wheel edge. Unlike the full size ones (which annoys me)
Enfin de retour la petite taille ! automatique ,étanche ,de qualité ,date, sans fioritures et japonaise!!! Et si elle était encore de plus petite taille, encore mieux!
I always look forward to a new Seiko. A SRPJ85 arrived this afternoon. Open the box and am instantly reminded of how thick their watches are. I’m not a spec snob and actually prefer Hardlex for construction site use, I’ve shattered multiple sapphire crystals. But the thickness kills them for me. A watch this diameter should not be so thick. Many microbrands offer better case specs at a similar price point and give the masses the sapphire crystal they want.
PRX automatic 38mm next !!!!!
They should just remove the day and date and it will look superb.
This Seiko watch:
a-Delay 1 minute a day.
b-Luminescence failure: the 12 HRS mark is not differentiated, at night all the fluorescent marks look the same. c-Very thick watch for small wrists (12-13cm).
d-The watch is 15'40mm thick (the strap goes behind the watch).
e- The convex glass (retro) makes it lose visibility due to the multiple brightnesses.
0:00 – 0:04 Fcking finally.
The SRPJ89 is wonderful
thank you for making this video!
Are the machines same as Snk Seiko's?
Looking forward to these watches. It'd be nice not to have to do the "Sieko shake" when switching watches. Shame about the crystal though. I agree, for $280 it should be sapphire. Looking foward to more small Seiko 5's with this same movement.
when is the US release date?
I think if seiko goes that small but charges same price as larger watches then up the lume and finish of the watch oh almost forgot how about a f***ing sapphire crystal lol
Green and champagne…
Finally
People will be modding the sh*t out of these soon.
Hardlex and the numerals aren't lumed for a higher price lmao…
I'm liking the Seiko SRPJ87 with the champagne dial. If I pick one up, that would be the one.
36 mm is way too small imo. 39 mm is the minimum I'll go, both because it looks funny on the wrist and because I can't read anything smaller. 41-43 mm is my favorite size.
I wish so badly they would use the SRPH33 color scheme on one of these.
That green sunburst is cool
When are these out? Cant find anywhere yet
Excellent development. Coincidentally i was just looking at my colleagues' green SNK and reminded of the beige dial i had a long time ago; great style and realible movement, but always wished it had hand-wound and better water resistance. I believe the SRPJ87 will be a great replacement. Problem is price… after i got my wonderful Orient Kamasu II for less than $200 it's hard to accept much else with lesser specifications that goes for a higher price.
