Last week Xbox announced the new Xbox Elite Series 2 Core Controller, offering some of the Elite’s core features at a cheaper price thanks to fewer add-ons, and in a shiny new white finish. It’s a good value but there’s some reasons I think you might not want to grab one just yet…

I wish this controller had macro functionality for the paddles. Feels redundant to only be able to map them to a single button instead of a button combination of at least two. Especially for the price point, it blows my mind that we don’t have this after so many years of it being on the market.

I think it’s very overlooked that this core controller is a great choice for people who bought the elite 2 and have then broke it so they just need the CORE of the controller as they still have their additional peices that came with elite, that personally i think will be the main point people buy this

Honestly I get why people like wireless charging controllers but unless you’re using like landline batteries they last for days, I use energizer batteries and I haven’t changed them for quite a while, definitely not since I started playing the GTA 5 story on my series x

6:35-6:37 i found the design lab and it gives you the option of coloring all your pieces and stick tops. I got a storm grey faceplate, light grey inner bumper, black a, b, x, and y buttons, photon blue faceted d-pad, the menu, share and double-square buttons are a sandy brown color. The back area is a light green color and with the extra components pack it really gives color to the faceplate. The triggers are a light blue color too. On a scale of 1-10, this customization is a solid 9 of the full mark

DO NOT BUY! The only guarantee is that every single one you buy is comes out the box with dual massive stick drift. NOW that a guarantee! If you dont mind have stick drift then this is for you.

The fact that this controller comes with no back paddles is stupid and a really bad practice...Damn thing has 4 more "buttons" on the back but you need to pay to use them.. Is this EA or wtf?..

Its unprecise flipping back to center and the sometimes not working A-Button is sadly my exoerience with my limited xbox one "grey/green"-edition back then when I bought it 😞 I´ve lost the motivation playing with a controller right away... today I was so proud as my White Core arrived. Right now everything is working fine - but once I thought "hmm...did the a-button react?" - lets hope it has and will not happen to me again. But ok - this time I can send it back in 30 days when it appears to fail. What I really love is that you can shorten the trigger-way for LT/RT and instead of using the much to high LB/RB (worst ergonomics on many controller) now I can use the paddles on the back instead - love it 🥰👍 What I dont like is that it seems you can not take out or change the battery - at least not easily.

The controller is trash. I have replaced mine twice right out of the box, the A button only registers a press half the time.

both of my elite 2 controllers came faulty on the first day and now im hoping the elite 3 will come soon to fix quality control issues 😭

If it came with back paddles it would be a nice product. As of now buying the core is meaningless compared to the normal or elite.

They are not the same. Core feels cheaper and louder. Also different resine.

Almost a year later just got a plain white elite core for $104 I'm happy with my purchase. Think I will spring for some colored design lab joysticks tho. Maybe an orange and brown color scheme.

Fortunately I was lucky enough to hang on to the accessories for the original elite controller I had since 2015 and the paddles and dpad swap out just fine only the extra thump sticks are not compatible.

Don't mention about the stick drift that starts after a few months of light use. Great job. I've sent 4 series 2 controllers and I won't buy this garbage ever. If you don't trust me, look into the class action lawsuit about stick drift against microsoft.

Just got the core controller and upset it’s the same “quality”. My old elite 2 had bumper malfunctions I’m under 3 year I feel like that’s shit quality. My old controllers never had issues ever.

I think the series controllers or even a custom one are better options then the elite controllers
