5 Games Made in Godot To Inspire You

by admin

The Godot Engine is a, free open source 2D and 3D game engine alternative to Unity and Unreal. Godot 4 is the current engine version and is being being used by game developer studios and indie game developers alike. I hope these games made in Godot serve as inspiration for what is possible with the game engine.

Check em out and vote your favorite in the comments!

Your favorite game is entered into the 2024 Godot Game Awards.

The hope is that these games & projects truly inspire anyone wanting to make games, especially with the Godot Engine by showing what other people are creating and what is possible.

Number 4 most interesting to me. Also 5 and 3 if I could pick more.

@firstname4337 April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

#4 (the medieval game) is the only one I'm interested in playing but #1 (the basketball game) is so impressive
my vote is #1

Not commenting on the actual gameplay of course, but Spring Dash is the only one here that looks visually inspiring because of how little genuinely good looking indie 3D is out there (give it some better textures and more polygons, it would come close to a Ghostrunner-like AA title). Under the Yoke is visually pleasant if mostly due to the art style rather than the coding. Strongest Imp looks like the blandest roguelike out there that Unity barfs out a dozen of every month, hard pass. Yuke and the Book of Yokai is, again, nothing special, although the custscenes look quite okay for indie standards. Full Court Heroes is the same pixel art that's replicated throughout like 95% of the indie scene, but I will give them credit, it's not easy to code a team sports game like this.

Definitely Number 2, Yuke and the book of Yokai.

@finleyghost April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

Good to see games made in Godot. The narration could've been better if it has a more "unscripted" feel. Strongest Imp looks pretty cool. Thanks for the video!

1 | Full Court Heroes is like NBA Jam! I love it!

@owdoogames April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

#4 Under The Yoke… because I’m an English serf 😂 but also because in my old age I’m getting into thoughtful UI-based games over action-based games and I think Godot is a great tool for that.

@lightraz1 April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

Itś hard to choose from 5, 2 and 1 but I'll go with 2. It's a nice proposal to learn while playing and doing it in a fun way.

@sythax April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

2 easy! I love deck builders and learning Japanese!

@plopsis April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

#1. That is some NBA JAM stuff.

@47syorha52 April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

@augusto256 April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

Number 2 is one of the best educational games I've ever seen.

@MalbecGames. April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

This time it will be: 2 | Yuke and the Book of Yokai

@ledsvik April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

I vote for 2 since it's an amazing idea how people more easily can learn things while playing, and therefore making it more accessible to learning new things. The creator has understood the power of games. Well done! 😀

@el_sucre April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

1, Full Court Heroes definitely hits a sweet spot between nostalgia and the rare indie sports game.

@paulapares April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

2 is great! I love the second one!

@DylanMatthewTurner April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

My favorite is number 1, Full Court Heroes
It looks really polished and the sprite art is nice.

@tireswinggames April 7, 2024 - 1:11 am

Thanks for including Full Court Heroes. I've been watching this series of videos for quite a while, and it is really cool to see my game here. I really like all the projects, but I'll vote for #4 this week – reminds me of the classic Sid Meier games.
