Boyz n the hood is a movie about kids in the hood wanting to get out, Menace II Society is a movie about kids who get sucked into the hood lifestyle

Me and my friends grew up watching hood films like Friday, 8 Mile, Do the Right Thing, Menace II Society and Boyz in the Hood because it was the culture we struggled upon.
