Now that the Xbox Series X and S are out, people are starting to realize how easy it is to fill up the internal storage and are looking to storage options for expanding their room for games. Today I wanted to take a look at Microsoft’s Expansion Card that will give gamers another TB of storage for playing games directly off of, but at a fairly high price.

3:15 "How to insert it." 😂
Finally got 1TB for $90.
It's not just worth buying its a must buy
If you have unlimited data it really doesn't matter…. especially if you have fast download speed.
2 years later and the prices still suck
memorycard is to store saves = (your games Memory) So thats just a HDD so the text are right on it.
Seagate 1TB SSD
2yrs (2021) $220
Currently (2023) $150
Seagate 2TB SSD (2023) $250/$280
[depending on where you go]
Currently only competitor is WD
WD 1TB (2023) – $150
[Not currently seeing a 2TB option for an SSD expansion card]
So the seagate has gone down for the 1tb with the 2tb being the new top. But based on the prices of the two 1TB itll judt be personal preference/deal available
My 2tb seagate xbox one harddrive lasted me 8yrs before failing randomly
I’m upset like when the fuck was 2TB 356$
From what ive seen of the card itself it cant utilise its full transfer speed
It’s more money than PS5 but a hell of a lot easier to install. Just wish they’d open it up to more manufacturers to bring down the cost.
I just wish they came with a small clear plastic storage case and maybe a stack of 5 paper cards so you can physically write down what's stored on the expansion card. I don't personally see myself using more than one of them as I don't play that many games at a given time, but I could see trying to keep track of what is stored on each expansion card being a pain for people who use multiple.
Got one off eBay for 120$
This is so anti consumer😡
I prefer HDD for filling up the old and new games. Very cheap and usable.
It’s not difficult but they will get cheaper with time in the meantime you can use a slower external drive
I bought the 2TB one. No regrets. If you can spend money, then buy one. If you can’t, then just use a portable HD plugged in via usb.
PS5 has definitely won the expansion war. Internally though, Xbox series X has a bloeout win with a simple screw & a cloning device to allow you to swap them compared to sautered on chips in the PS5
Two years down the line in 2023 this one still costs $200! Not very cool given the console itself costs $500 only…
While nice its way to pricey, i remember when memory cards were cheaper lol. though they were orignially used for stored data. I probally find a cheaper alternative.
So if I got the memory card instead of an external drive I could play games on the actual card without transferring it to the internal hard drive?
Their is 2 tb and the price is $400
It looks like it didn’t go back together correctly it didn’t look fully clipped 😂 YOU BROKE IT! 😅😂😂
hello do you know where or who sells the real thermal pads that colour green in side the xbox one x and siers x ? they same colour ect but cant find any were on the world wide web can you please or letme know the OEM ones not after market ones thanks.
I feel like they made the storage on the Xbox's so small just so they could sell these memory cards for half the price of a new console. Could have easily gave us 2tb or more from the factory considering how small the memory sticks are..
Ye 400 quid for 2TB id rather just not get any new games 🤣🤣
I bought the 1TB Seagate Expansion Card last year and don't regret it. I have enough space for updates and even have a 5TB external hard drive.
if i understand you correctly since the speed of the serie x is 2.4 GB/s (Raw), does that mean the memory card is too? the 1 terra is 300 $ canadian btw
I have 3 games lol, now i have to pay 200 bucks smh
It is THE ONLY option to play Xbox series X level games. With them taking 100Gb+, you fill up you internal SSD so fast.
In reality, while technically you could use any good NVME SSD that is fast enough, Microsoft artificially limit us to only buy those.
If you really want it, buy it at MS expense. Cancel your Ultimate GamePass for a year, and you will save enough for 1Tb version.
Why not have an nvme port on the side with no cartridge
Maybe the next console will load the entire game to ram before launching and no need for uber expensive storage
Do you need this before you can play games on Xbox series x?
My Mom bought my 10 year old son one of these for Xmas this year. He didn't really need anything else and with some of these games taking over 100gb it is almost required.
This irks me because it’s not a memory card, it’s an external ssd that plugs into a proprietary port to expand your storage options.
Is that a 2230 ssd ?
200us for a 1TB ssd that's just a microsoft rip off.
Memory card?? With as far tech has come ain’t no way I’m going back to ps1 era tech
It’s been a year and I still refuse to buy it, the 5 terabyte hard drive is worth it to wait the 30 minutes to moving games back and forth
2022 same card with tax in canada $315 can
you dont need this. Buy a cheaper external storage device and wait 10 minutes for games to transfer
How much games can you fit on 1tb??
So let me get this straight. The SSD card can play optimized Series X games off it?
So jus to be clear, @10:13, if you have an EXTERNAL SSD hard drive (one I use exclusively for Xbox games) connected to your Xbox Series X via a 3.0 USB cable, you STILL need to move those Series X|S games OVER to the Xbox’s INTERNAL hard drive to run the game??? But Why? The external hard drive is SSD!
