I don't know if you're still around, but thank you for these tutorials! I'm in a weird spot with my music knowledge where I do a lot of things by ear, I know enough to where I'd fall asleep in a basic theory class, but if I'm put in a DAW unsupervised I freeze up like a startled baby deer. This helped to bridge that gap from the DAW side and also explained a bunch about synthesizers, EQ, and...musical density? That I never understood.

Great lesson. Everything works great except when I play back I get synth sound PLUS piano sound on each track. How can I get rid of the piano sound?

You really explain things well compared to most of the other tutorials.

Thanks for the great tute. I am a complete newbie with Reaper and music creation, but I was able to follow you with no trouble.

Dude thank you so much. This video is so old and yet it is still so helpful. I've probably watched it 25 times and more but I'm starting the get an understanding. And I loved the advice at the end! Very inspiring. Thanks for putting in the work and explaining everything so well.

Hi, I am a complete novice at DAW. Reaper is my first one and I also have zero prior music experience with an instrument or anything musical really. Thanks to your guide I am slowly starting to get the hang of it and it is really helpful. I'm having a problem though when i connect the chords. i was able to get to the part where you do the A minor chord. but where yours smoothly transitions to the f major chord mine messes up. Your 'a' and 'c' lines are connected and it makes a smooth transition between the a and f chords. If i connect my 'a' and 'c' lines the f chord does not play(only the 'f' key plays but the 'a' and 'c' keys are dead). but if i leave i minuscule space between the a minor chord and the f chord it plays fine but theres a very slight pause :( so the transition isn't as smooth. Can you tell me why the chords are not transitioning when the lines are connected? PLEASE HELP! Thank you

This lesson was exactly what I needed to help me with Reaper. I haven't started making my own music yet, but this was more than enough to get me in the right place. All the other videos just show them going through the process extremely quickly while not showing the step by step process. In contrast, you're video was extremely detailed and exactly tailored for a beginner. Thank you very much!

Is there any way to preview the sounds in Reaper before loading?
@DMichaelReese1953 April 3, 2024 - 2:13 pm
Yes, I needed a basic explaination that you can't get just anywhere. Thanks a bunch.

Thankyou Smuchly for the video; that helped me to get into this Reaper programme. Just bought it.
It took me 7 days before I got any sound at all.
Now I need to translate your very helpful video to link up with a little 3 octave MIDI keyboard. Miditech I2 Control-37.

I have an expensive Orla organ and trying to link everything up to the Reaper software.

I am an ex Royal Marine School of Music concert pianist; way back in 1960 ish.

Entering the other world of digital photography, MIDI and DAWs. etc.
