“Dress codes” aren’t just for high schoolers. Some of the most talented athletes in the world also have to contend with strict dress codes, as evidenced by the recent viral news story about the Norwegian women’s beach handball Olympic team being fined for swapping the traditional bikini bottoms for shorts. While the men’s team gets to wear relatively long and loose athletic shorts, the women’s team is forced to wear the revealing swimwear bottoms, or else face a penalty. But that may soon change, following the outcry of support the Norwegian handballers have been getting since they stood their ground and knowingly violated the International Handball Federation Beach Handball Rules. Here’s the real reason Olympic sports have strict dress codes.

Personally as a straight male, I like the bikini bottoms butt they should be allowed to wear what they feel is most comfortable. I support the wearing of the hajab if they're religion required it.

The 'uniform' regulations is what has always discouraged many many many women from plys sports. Forget about muslims, many women irrespective of religion will NOT wear this shit while playing a sport! This is why women stay away from sports and why women's sports is not popular and why they don't make enough money!

Being candidly honest and realistic. While I agree that the skimpy bikini bottoms seem to be unnecessary. I also recognize that women's sports aren't as popular as the male sports in their respective proffessions. And the sexy bikini bottoms for womens track and volleyball seems to draw the attention of men and increases male viewership.

The reason for women sports have short dress code is solely to please men's eyes as max viewers of sports are men. So that men can watch the sport because most of the women don't have interest in sports. The sports agencies need sponsorship.

Out of curiosity I'm asking , why only women wear undergarments to athletics events ? Is thier any advantage ? Or it is poked on them unconsciously by some fenetics so they can wank way back home !!

Why women means become revealing cloths ? Our ancestors didn't fallow these studpity of half nakedness!
I see a systematic influence on women without out even knowing for them self subconsciously planted that wearing revealing cloths are t he social standerd!

The Indian Sports Associations is very good in this context, they never force our men and women to wear clothes that they don't feel comfortable in.

Nobody in their right mind needs a 5 minute video to explain the real reason behind (especially) womens dress code in olympic games. If women show less skin, nobody cares about their performance and the sport will die out because nobody will watch it. So they make women more naked, thereby making their "sport" more attractive. Whoever does not want to accept this fact is delusional beyond anything.
Required to wear shorter clothes exposing their legs, thighs and stomach basically exposing their whole body plus being required to shave says it all.

I'm an athlete, I have muscular thighs and I hate wearing that type of bikini bottoms. If you add the fact that females are also required to shave, that adds even more fuel to the disaster. I have super sensitive skin so shaving/waxing my bikini line AND THEN WEARING such thight bottoms would result in painful ingrown hairs and rug burns. I stopped wearing regular briefs ALTOGETHER because the elastic bands are just too tight for my inner thigh/hip ratio circumference. High cut bikini bottoms with strings are literally a life-saver for females like me. If I were a runner or a volley player I'd opt for a "boxer like" type of bottom so the elastic bands sit below my groin. ALSO NO WAY HAVING SOMETHING INBETWEEN YOUR ASS CHEEKS HELPS YOU WITH YOUR MOVEMENTS WHATSOEVER.

This is insane and messed up. Should have minimums not maximums clothing sizes. The sport will take care of the latter if the maximum interferes with performance.

Let's call it what it is! Men in particular come to these events because of the bikini bottoms and the tight leotards! It is time the men who make the rules were forced to wear them and preform in them! I think they would have a change of thinking!

Why do they have to wear the bikini bottoms? It's not lie they are swimming ane need to be streamlined for speed. It's like the men just want as much flesh/a** showing as possible! What does it have to do with performance?? Let's put the guys in the same thing, shall we?? Come on! Even though I like the sport itself, I personally don't watch because don't like seeing everything everyone has risking exposure. Ditto swimming and women beach volley ball! It's just me, but don't feel those skimpy suits are necessary!!👵🇺🇸

Its literally just sexism. Old men wanted to be allowed to stare at young girls that were almost naked without seeming like pedos. Its supposed to be about athleticism and the sport itself but it's not. It's about men making up rules that force girls and women to be sexualized by everyone. Its almost as tho they wouldn't have allowed women in sports unless the men got something out of it, something to stare at. You can work so hard, train so hard to get to the Olympics and all ppl wanna do is stare at your butt. It's quite pathetic.

The beach handball dress code is actually to prevent women from playing beach hand ball.
