If they drop physical media and go all in with game pass, they have effectively dropped out of the console market. Period. And that sucks for competition.

MS would lose so much money on third party sales on their platform by abandoning HW, it makes no sense to go that direction. What they get by selling on PS5 and such, would not compensate. 3rd party sales are "free money" as they require no initial investment, other than the HW itself. Just don't see them going that way.

What they should do is make their live service games multi platform to get the most users possible playing their games. Then make gamepass available on other platforms and them make gampass exclusive games that can only be played on the gamepass service.

Microsoft really bought all those developers/publishers to hope to have more exclusives just for them to bring their own exclusives to PlayStation and Nintendo. Who would’ve thought Microsoft would be the next SEGA….

At this point idc anymore. Microsoft could’ve denied this rumor early on and they didn’t. Even if they say Starfield and elder scrolls, etc aren’t going to Sony I wouldn’t trust them.

Yeah there is pretty much Zero chance Xbox is abandoning hardware...

Why would I say that?

Simply because of just how much money Xbox makes off being a platform for 3rd party games. That 30% from every single game sold makes them money than Gamd Pass

So for now, I think we have very little to worry about when it comes to getting another console next generation (whether that is 2026 or not, I couldn't tell ya, haha)
