On a more optimistic note, I would say that selling can be a matter of finding the right person. Maybe he can find someone who values a rare signed item.

These guys behind the counter are just plain scamming frauds.
"Expert" - This is a very nice piece but is very very limited audience, I would price this at $10 and no more.
