Musician Careers That Were Destroyed By A Moment In History

by admin

In the music industry, it only takes one hit to make you a superstar, but it only takes one moment of bad press for your career to come crashing down.

These stars may have been on top of the world, but they all did something that brought their A-list status to an abrupt end. While some things that were controversial at the time have been vindicated in the years since, others are just as gross and horrifying as they ever were.

From the reason Jerry Lee Lewis got booed out of the United Kingdom to the famous Ashlee Simpson incident on Saturday Night Live, here are some musicians whose careers were destroyed by a moment in history.

Do you think any of these musicians were treated unfairly, and didn't deserve to have their careers destroyed?

@song4mozart March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Does Freed not look like Tom Hanks?

To defend the amazingly talented Jerry Lee Lewis, as a fellow lifelong southerner, I am hip to the fact that if he would have waited much longer to marry his young wife/cousin, in our community, he would have left her in danger of being considered an old maid. And in the matter of his cousin-#@cking, nobody knows and loves you like your kinfolk. And, I'm out.

I had the pleasure of seeing the legendary Chuck Berry in concert, not too many years before his passing and it was awesome. Arguably the true king of rock and roll, to see and hear this architect of popular youth music in person had me feeling absolutely enthralled and inspired. But, simultaneously, my knowledge of his bizarre hobbies and choice of… snacks..(thank you very much for that info, Spy Magazine 🤢) left me feeling icky AF. 'Music from Big Brown', indeed!

MJ never had a normal childhood, he was just trying to get one when he had sleepovers.

Poor parenting to bring your child to a situation like that: what if he was a perverse man? You want to let your child harmed for a lifetime to get money?

@flixtrue6300 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Justin planned it, and Janet got the blame for it… Victim blaming

@MikeSmith-yj9qm March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Americans homophobic? Your credibility just went into the garbage. I’m out you jerk.

@user-vi5gk3wz8n March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

And all of Hollywood doesn't sing live. I went to a Keith Sweat concert and how come he sounded just like his albums. Hello wake up people your all being played like a fiddle. They took the fall for Hollywood Wake up cause this is what Hollywood has done to us all. It's all fake it's an act and the sooner you all realize that the better this world conciseness will become. Cause your all asleep and it's time to open your pineal gland.

@ricenglish4556 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

How the hell did Jerry Lee Lewis know she was only 13, she looked at least 14.

@dubclu6 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Did it just say “In America, where homophobia is still rampant.” Are you freaking kidding me? You can’t escape the rainbow flags, pride rally’s, school curriculum, pronoun pushers, etc. here. Give me a break.

@deannamagana1425 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Lewis is a pedophile,straight up

@DaisysMommy1104 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Elvis presley Was dating a 14 year old?
And she even lived in graceland with him and Slept in the same bedroom and bed with him And jerry lee Lewis married his second cousin. So I don't know why they got on him. But it was okay for Elvis Presley It's kinda like a double standard.

@grinchoi1 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

you're crazy if you think Michael Jacksons legacy was ruined. were you under a rock when he died and the worlds reaction to it? i was on vacation in Brazil at the time and it was felt everywhere. Dont make shit up…

@zzevonplant March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Also – George Michael didn't fall from the public's good graces because he's gay, that's obviously not true. Look at Elton John, Freddy Mercury (who is universally beloved by Americans), Rob Halford, and on and on and on. There are LOTS of gay musicians that people love. And yet, a guy caught masturbating in public, on the other hand, not so universally beloved, because that's messed up. Peewee Herman did the same damn thing and lost basically all of the popularity he enjoyed as a result too. People don't appreciate public masturbation, exposing oneself, etc. It's sick, so, he deserved to get s– for that, and that was people's issue with him, not that he's gay. Almost no one cares about that, especially people that would be listening to George Michael in the first place (it's not like his fans were a bunch of deep South male boomers or something, that demographic might stop listening to him for that, but they never liked him in the first place.)

@zzevonplant March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

I think they ruined Janet and Michael Jackson on purpose.
And yeah, Michael Jackson is almost certainly not a pedo. He was EXTENSIVELY investigated by federal law enforcement, and they found literally zero evidence to back any kind of molestation allegations, insinuation, etc. There was never ANY proof of it.
And "letting kids sleep in his room" is an absolute joke – his "bedroom" was an entire apartment with two stories, more than one bathroom, etc. The kids weren't sleeping in the bed alone with Jackson, there were other adults there, including parents. And the guy that started all these accusations is ON TAPE, beforehand, saying that he was going to ruin Michael Jackson for money and out of jealousy (because his son & ex-wife were getting to go on trips, do fun things, etc. b/c of Jackson & hanging out with him, and so on. And this guy drugged his son and got him to say this stuff. The dad later killed himself. Look it up if you don't believe me.)
It's just absurd to act like those allegations were in any way substantiated. Like, yeah, he was definitely a weird due, but there's no proof at all that he was a pedophile.

@amiehampton7070 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Justin Timberlake is ruin Janet Jackson. Not herself.

@vicko1978 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Ya wanna know a genre that never lip syncs? Heavy fuggin Metal.

@user-ns6vn7kg9z March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

The Monkees sang their own songs and on concert they played their own instruments. I think its an insult to relate them to milli vanilli, who were less talented and all fake.

@JetPackDino March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Jeez. I didn't realize how much Janet Jackson was punished. And how Justin Timberlake wasn't?? Seriously, Justin owes Janet *some*thing.

@FanOfVacuums2 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

The fact that Sinead O'Connor destroyed her whole career and stood her ground, only for everybody to find out that she was completely right. It is also so wrong what happened to Janet Jackson especially next to Justin Timberlake, who was just as at fault. People act as if they have never seen a female breast. It was an accident and she should not have been ridiculed how I know she was.

@SamM-gl9zc March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Homophobia is rampant in America 😂😂😂.

Perpetual Victim Status is currency currently.

@Mecca188 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

How the hell does a grown ass man marry a 13 year old ?? And where were her parents?😳😡

@darrynaustin6379 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Sinead oconners career was destroyed for sticking up for children just typical of american religious nuts

@genesis2936 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Why would a 50 yr old Michael Jackson had different kids sleep in his bed ! Absolutely no justifications !

@LorenzoGiannetti March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Alan Freed's story is a brutal picture of the level of US racism. The O'Connor, Janet Jackson and George Michael cases show also deep problems with bigotry, misogyny and homophobia in more recent years.

@tracyanderson3715 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Screw nipple gate. So unfair that Janet was the only one that got the bad rap she didn’t deserve

@tracyanderson3715 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Man Freed was awesome for not being a racist and not noticing because he didn’t care that a black man and a white female were dancing together
Payola….. I’m pretty sure he was not alone.

@sultanofswat9382 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Billy Squire?

@SamSlugg456 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

A couple questions:
1. How can anyone marry their cousin?
2. How the fuck was marrying a 13 year old legal at any point in modern history?
3. Jerry Lee Lewis had at least 7 wives. Why was this man a scumbag?
That’s all.

@larrystroh233 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

At least The Monkees didn't fake their vocals.

@InfectiousGroovePodcast March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

No one ever talks about how much huge hit albums have session players doing most if not all of the work. There's a lot more trickery going on in the music industry outside of just Ashlee Simpson and Milli Vanilli.

@willramirez75 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

“America, where homophobia is still rampant” my guy, have you been living under a rock or what?

@poloshirtsamurai March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

7:01 Milli Vanilli = OG Gorillaz

@intercommerce March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Sinead O'Conner….you sure it was because she ripped up a picture of the pope? Not going onstage as a bald-headed freak?

@shanangabbard718 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

🙏🔥😇😲😂🤣

@smileysatanson3404 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Funny enough what happened to Janet is unfortunately whats popular to do today instead of actually having talent

@LeCharles07 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Had the people involved in Milli Vanilli never seen "Singin' in the Rain"? Lol.

@velveetaslingshot March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Ashlee Simpson was already on her way out when ghe SNL thing happened.

@user-mm1nt1it5v March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

She hittin a vspe at 0:37

@richarddillinger8768 March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am

Janet Jackson's career was already over

@sanara_on_tour March 25, 2024 - 5:14 am
