Elden ring is the easiest fromsoftware rpg. These kids just didn't grow up dieing in contra, master blaster, or mario 1k times.

Humm, I see he has the narrow vision on the cost of games. Why has the price stayed pretty constant? Because there is another variable in the equation. It isn't just "Cost to Make" vs "Sale Price". It's "Cost to Make" vs "Sales Price" times "Quantity". The number of copies of games being sold has been growing every single year, and it's why the big publishers like EA and Activision continue to have increased profits year after year (remember, profits account for income and expenses). Then you add in DLC, microtransactions, premium deluxe editions … and you are increasing the price of games. That $60 (now $70) is just the base price.
People forget n64 games used to be like $69.99 in the late 90s, that's like $150+ in today's economy.

Some of those are really stupid/childish questions. I would have asked him how he feels about his new baby competing against his star child, now that Callisto Protocol and the Dead Space remake came out at the same time in the very same genre. That would be interesting to know, as it is a special and weird occurence.
This guy is awesome. He looks like someone who wears a flatcap and fights an opposite football-team fanclub in the UK. But he's really nice.
People forget that a $75 game was not uncommon in the N64/PS1 era and that's in mid 90s dollars. So, $60 for a new game in 2023 ain't bad, BUT it needs to be polished and often it's not. $60 for something like Mario Odyssey, that's a great deal. $60 for COD MW3…that's a ripoff.
Mr. Schofield was great in Dead Space 1 and 2, and probably with Calisto Protocol but the game was looking great but not scary and more annoying and a lot of repetative. Sad that it did not deliver the same as Dead Space 1 & 2 did.
Y did they need tbe tiger woods engine? Cant you make a long map with any engine?
So sad that Glen didn't play Elden Ring. He also doesn't seem to be familiar with souls games and the infamous difficulty associated with them.

I really would've loved for him to go deeper into the question as to why video games are important. I felt that he more went to proving that they are, with numbers and stats etc, but not as to exactly why. He mentions social spaces and entertainment, but as a game designer himself, he must have some interesting insights as to what makes them important to humans and culture as a whole.

very hard games is just stupid. dark souls type games. small sense of progression. if you die at a boss you go over and over again which makes frustration. the idea is to relax on a game. it will increase in difficulty a bit but not that much. make the story very good and lots to do, not just make the world hard. its still a game. that you waste time on. WASTE. but you at least relax.

Alien Isolation is a great example for the use of sound for horror. It raises the tension immensely and a sudden change of music is more scary in this game than running into the Alien sometimes
