Metropolis is one of my favorite movies and I love Steampunk, but wouldn't consider its story or premise to be simple and I certainly wouldn't call it Steampunk! Its more Art-Deco.

@PanyingPilot March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Wild wild west?

@yashamaruism March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

top 8 movies that arent really steampunk and shortlisting the only true steampunk film ever made (steamboy). watchmojo did shallow pathetic AI essay garbage before gpt was even a thing, wow.

@imshinycaptain March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

You… don't know what steampunk is, do you? It's okay. We all have to learn things.

@Michael-kg8ww March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Killing Machines and Poor Things are good examples

@webfreezy March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

No chapters?

@atleeriksen8514 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Wild Wild West, even if it is a "western movie" is easly one of the ten…maybe five..and not even in the top ten??? …and "Sky Captain…." is nothing near steampunk so why use that as an intro.? Its pure pulp adaption in both style and story.

@kathleenmaionchi2566 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

When I heard the narrator speaking of Atlantis as a city, I just checked the whole thing people are never going to wake up.

@MrJaimesJ March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Would Batman: Gotham by Gaslight be in this genre?

@BRANDON4905527 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

The League of Extraordinary Gentleman was a great one not mentioned.

@dennisboulais7905 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Try the anime movie "Last Exile", it's fantastic!

@Stumblebum-lc4zu March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

One totally overlooked gem is 1964's First men in the moon. And yes I do mean " in the moon".

@dontaylor7315 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Am I the only one here who thinks Sky Captain is perfectly good steampunk? If I'm missing something, please educate me.

@Mystefier March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Maybe "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" is better described as "Rococo Punk"

@luanneoneill March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

League of Extraordinary Gentlemen? The Golden Compass?

@raychwagner3657 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Once I saw the title of this video I couldn’t click it fast enough. Steampunk is my entire aesthetic and has been for years (my fiancé and I’s wedding is going to be steampunk themed as well, I’m so excited!) I loved seeing movies on here that I didn’t know existed and I will surely add them to my list, as well as seeing ones that I know and love. That being said, it kinda breaks my heart that Wild Wild West got screen time but not even mentioned by name on here. Also not seeing the movies Stardust & The Three Musketeers makes me sad as well. They are incredible and deserve a shoutout! ⚙️

@rpreto72 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Things to Come and Metropolis are Diesel Punk, not Steam Punk.

@michaelrue1400 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Note to film studios: Metropolis deserves a remake, not another movie made within the last twenty years.

@rukaikyu March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Try Mortal Engines

@stateofart5302 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

@SquirrelGamez March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Oh wow… young Ron Perlman…

@shannon9677 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Treasure planet is a cool movie.

Nice.

@JoshuaRoseG516 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Love your videos!! Could you please create a video on solarpunk movies?

@baudelaire7 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Where is city of ember

@MW-ec1jx March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Metropolis (1927) and Things to Come (1936) are a Proto-Dieselpunk while The City of Lost Children(1995) is a hybrid IMO

@benjaminbennett3755 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

What is the movie in the beginning with the man flying the plane called

@you_tub6733 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

5th element?

@justinbelshe March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

You've got some diesel mixed with your steam…

@guilherme8829 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

By no means #1 is a steampunk movie. The aesthetic borrows from Art Deco, with straight lines, the opposite of the detailed Steampunk. Batman The Animated Series has a similar style.

@506luceygrecia6 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Ever Present Pilates; Pilgrims Stars

@mxferro March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

Skycaptain and METROPOLIS are RETROFUTURISM! ..NOT steampunk!! There IS a difference. Plus metropolis is a corporate employee training video.

@The_Qane61013 March 23, 2024 - 8:21 am

When I heard Alfred Molina say "power of". I thought he was gonna say "the sun, in the palm of my hand." Then he said steam.
