Stanford Computer Scientist Answers Coding Questions From Twitter | Tech Support | WIRED

Chris Piech, professor of computer science at Stanford University, answers the internet’s burning questions about coding. Do you need to know math to be good at coding? How many computer languages are there? Are programming and coding the same thing? How do you code A.I.? What is the meaning of the “404” error? Chris answers all these questions and much more!

In my country there is program named com logo wich all children in school learn. It has a turtle wich can do few things :put down or pick up pencile, turn x°, or go forward backward, go left or right.
Basic code is like
Penciledown;forward100;left100;backward100;right100;pencileup
Then there is ism witch means repeat.
Pencildown;turnright45°;ism30(forward100;turnright90°;forward100;turnleft90°)
And it makes a zigzag.

Thank you for not saying "Raspberry Pi is a 35$ computer".

C++ ... really? ... what about Rust?

The ONE time they could actually call an episode Tech Support , they didn't

I love this guy, his whole way of being is really warm. Like a kind hug.

Coding makes you better at math and lazier at calculation. What do you mean I can't do 78*23? I can get python to do it.

Well I also have some list of questions that are as follows:-

1. Why did computer only understand 1s and 0s not English or any other language like us.

2. How do we program/create a programing language(Like the first ever programming language ever)

3. Why do we need such complex programming/coding language? Why can't we just create a program/coding language which can understand normal language like English and etc

4. Why did we selected switches and not any other like buttons?

5. How did the idea of the furst computer arised.

Some question may seem silly but I am a high school student and just being curious.

Yeah, you need to get a whole Stanford Computer Scientist to answer questions like "what is 404", "what is front end and backend", "what is github". I mean, really? It's like if you invited Mike Tyson and had him answer things like "can people kick in boxing?" or "do I punch with my right hand or my left? Which is better?". Come on you guys.

Neither Python nor JavaScript are programming languages, they're scripting languages.

I wasn't financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my third house already, earn on a monthly through passive income, and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone's that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing in the financial market is a grand choice I made.

Just like there is front end and back end, there is a body and a soul. Something more than we can see with our eyes.

I learned more in 17 minutes about coding through this guy than I did through repeat semesters of computer engineering at my university
@lmao4982 February 12, 2024 - 3:08 am
seems a little weird to use def main() for python considering you need to add a line to explicitly call it in python

the simpler version of the program just omits the def main(): line

I've self-taught myself a bit of Excel Basic, HTML, Javascript and Creatures Agent Object Scripting (which is used by the Creatures series of video games). But I'm not really great at any of those.

Anyways the important thing with web design is ux/UI design. And the important thing with ux/ui design is accessibility! You don't need to code to create good accessibility designs, but you need a Front-ender who is also cunning in accessibility to make it truly accessible. It's a joint effort, and its important :)

12:56 “do you have to be good at math to code?” Coding requires little if any math but you do have to do a lot of math and applied mathematics to get a BS in Computer Science.

Feels really cool, that I know everything he's saying 😆
@jacobclinton9849 February 12, 2024 - 3:08 am
6:27 okay but he never actually called main, python doesn't automatically call it
@glebkorniyenko1084 February 12, 2024 - 3:08 am
I also learned about front end and backed when learning web programming for the first time, so it always throws me off when people use it for things like load balancers or even games.
