Defunct Games reviews the new side-scrolling platformer Retro Revengers, available July 23 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Switch and PC.
Heavily inspired by Capcom’s much-loved Ghosts ‘N Goblins series, Retro Revengers is a throwback game that gets the look and gameplay right. Although it takes a little while to get going, this 2D platformer does a great job of mimicking the genre greats of the 16-bit era. Unfortunately, the best thing about the game also makes it far too easy. This is especially true of the boss fights, which can sometimes last only a few seconds. While it may not be as “super” or “ultra” as Ghouls ‘N Ghosts, Retro Revengers is still a fun and funny action game that is easy to recommend.

I have always wanted to live within the world of Majora's Mask. I love Termina, Clock Town especially. (without the moon looming overhead though, of course)
I'm honestly just a little impressed someone tried to make "Little Samson at home", as much as I see that game praised it doesn't seem to get a lot of imitators.
I'm surprised they didn't start the game with being able to switch characters. Maybe since it's a throw back to Old School Games, maybe the Up Up Down Down code would do that. 😉😂🤣 As for the question, I'll have to go with one of the F95 Zone games. All that sexy time in real life would be fun. But which one? That's the tough one. Maybe Summer in the City, specially if like in the game, I'm able to pick lesbian right off the bat. Yeah, that would be great.
This looks like Ghouls 'N' Ghosts meets Little Samson, only without the challenge of either.
I always imagined I would love to get sucked into a Zelda game, but then there's always some cataclysm or other going on, so maybe I need something more peaceful.
… the graphics seem a little too simplistic for me. I know that is the look they were going for but still. I would like to be in a red faction game to really test out the environmental destruction 🙂
The fact that the characters are “streamers” is such a turn off.
This one looks million times better than the initial plot synopsis suggests (really no into streaming / streamers). Adding this one to The List. On a related note, I'm still bummed there hasn't been a proper physical releases (as far as I can tell) for Ghosts n Goblins Resurrection.
QOTD; Deus Ex? Growing old and feeling it, I wouldn't mind being able to walk into a shop and say 'new bad-ass cyberleg, please'.
If you asked me it looks like newb’s first makaimura. I agree that it looks charming but I prefer a balance of charm and difficulty (no soul crushers please! I’m already having a bad time with dark souls and other games of that ilk)
QOTD: mmmm too many choices but if I were to pick just one game, it’d be a castlevania, just ensure it’s not haunted castle (that game sucks!)
Honestly this game seems really charming. It wasnt on my radar before but I'll check it out for sure, probably not right away though
